Who has ordered a 2021 CLS 450?

I have not seen many posts from people who own a current model of the CLS. I ordered my 2021 around Thanksgiving and still don't know when I will get it. I am wondering if this delay is normal (I know the covid and chip shortage has had some impact on production)? Even in these circumstances it seems the time frame is excessive. I have been given two build dates and they have been pushed back. What experience have any of you new owners had when ordering the 2021 model? Also, my dealer asked for $1000 non-refundable deposit. At what point can you say the amount of time to deliver the vehicle is so great that it negates the deal so I can get my money back? I understand MB says expect a 3 to 6 month delivery time if the car is German built. It is now beyond that time frame.

Off topic but that designo Macchiato Beige/Tizian Red Nappa leather on the 2019+ CLS is to die for. Too bad nobody options it with that because I plan on purchasing a CPO CLS53 in a year or two.

MB, GM, and other manufacturers are still delayed with new car deliveries from last year. Since you made a deposit, your dealer should be able to trade with another store with a 2021 CLS450 that’s similarly optioned to your order. It may not have every single option, but this is the easiest way to get into a car ASAP. If you need help please reach out to me directly. I’m a former Internet Manager for Mercedes.

Thanks PlayersClubWheeIs (great name btw!!). I just might do that. There comes a time when it no longer makes sense to stay with a 2021 model when the '22s will be shipped in the first quarter. There are no cars in this part of the country anyway near what I want. Maybe I can tell them that I want out of the deal because it has been too long and to apply my deposit to a new set of tires (which the car now desperately needs). At least it would keep the money in house. I can't see them holding on to my money after they have pushed back the date two, three times already. They don't contact me, I always have to contact them and then it is "I am waiting on Mercedes to get back to me". I'm too old to play these waiting games!

Not a CLS450 but ordered an AMG CLS53 late December & received May 17...right at 5 months. About 5-6 weeks over dealer estimated delivery. Considering current paucity of dealer inventory we feel very fortunate.

Yes, that is fortunate. I think a lot has to do with size of dealership. My dealer is small in a city of 100,000 so they don't have the allotments and pull of the big city dealerships. Anyway, today I received an email from the sales manager saying my car has been built and is in B7 status, which is waiting at port to be loaded on a boat. No telling how long it will take from this point on but at least it is built.

IIRC ours arrived just under 3 weeks after build. FWIW, it was worth the wait....

I'm sure it is worth the wait, these are great cars. I'm an old guy and my CLS 550 with that twin turbo V8 is all I can handle. I will be anxious to compare the new one when it gets here. Your AMG will really put a smile on your face. Good luck with it. If I get mine in three weeks I will be tickled to death!!
