Renntech tune

Renntech tune
Purchased the Renntech HHT should be arriving on Tuesday. Was browsing around and seen they had an “ecu tune” and an “ecu+ tune”
When I spoke to a renntech employee they said they didn’t offer any “stage” tunes.
long story short I paid 2,240 vs 2,480 I would have easily paid for the + tune but didn’t see that option through website I ordered through… renntech doesn’t even offer the basic ecu tune on their store page.
Does renntech do revisions?

Ok so I got an update from both renntech and company I ordered HHT from… renntech rep pretty much told me I would have to return the HHT to where I bought it from… company CC me their reply and said it’s not returnable.
all I’m wanting to know is if I can pay the difference in cost for them to send me some kind of file to get the ECU+ tune. Does anyone have any insight on this?

renntech seems to offer intermediary tunes.

Is your module VIN matched to your car? I know they have done so in the past, if so it sounds like you would need to go through the process of returning and repurchasing... it sounds kind of dumb, but think, you can't buy a CLS 400 and have Mercedes just charge your the difference to make it a 450....

So from the looks of it is if you want a full tune coming from intermediate tune then you’d have to pay again?

That makes no sense. What if you installed the tune and then added downpipes. Would they charge you for a completely new tune? No, they'd charge you less and make the adjustment. Hopefully you get this worked out, I can imagine how frustrating it is.

that’s exactly what I was telling myself, not my first time dealing with tuners, just my first time dealing with euro tuners. Asked renntech rep, if I could pay the difference for “full tune” all I get was contact who I got the HHT from. Mind you, the HHT was shipped from renntech florida. Went ahead and installed the tune yesterday I love it but it leaves me wanting more and I think “full tune” would have left me satisfied

The + tune is probably with downpipes. Did you ask the place where you got the tune from? The tune you got makes no sense, why would they have 2 tunes that make such a drastic difference in power only $40 apart? You would think that the higher tune would be for a car that has the downpipes because that's what the numbers look like. But I'm running a Weistec tune, mine on paper is 540/720 and that was the tune that they said was for a car with cats. Mine just makes a little less power because I still have cats because I live in California.
The Renntech tune looks like the second bigger tune is for cars with downpipes. Just sucks because with Weistec you could have been making that power and not needed to use downpipes. I just have an exhaust and an intake and that's the tune I'm running.

from what rep said… the tune that I accidentally purchased was for states that had 91 octane only, I’m in Texas 93 is everywhere. When I called renntech the guy said there was pretty much no such thing as revisions since all they’re doing is upping the boost and messing with A/F and timing, and explained to me that the intermediate tune was for 91 and full tune was for 93… I did ask the place where I got the tune from, they reached out to renntech explaining what I wanted to do, all they said was 100% not returnable, refundable, etc.
So I’m pretty sure I’m SOL at the moment from what it sounds like

And I'm sure it's tied to your VIN so you can't even sell it. I'm pissed for you!

2013 Weistec 540/715 tuned CLS 550, 2008 E350, and '07 Jaguar S-Type R
Well, that sucks. I have the $1,500 Weistec stage 1 tune (540/715). Should I go with catless downpipes, they charge $250 to reflash the ECU. Why can't Renntech do the same?

I am a big fan of logging bench tunes to make sure they work as expected and I do think it makes sense to modify tunes for specific use cases. I think it is important for a customer to say hey I'd like this changed or this doesn't feel great. So if it is true they can't update a tune to their HHT that would be something I'd consider versus an HPTuners or Open Port 2.0 type system.

I do see there is a USB port on the HHT, but per instructions it says not used. Makes me wonder if they could send file or whatever over to make revisions or even a “full tune” that I want.
