Help me with 20inch tire fitment
This is my first time changing my stock 2014 CLS 550 19inch wheels.
I want to go for something big, which for CLS, I think the biggest is 20inch.
Now this is where I have some concerns and doubts.
The wheel I’m trying to buy is 20x8.5J front and 20x9.5J rear. The wheel is Rolfhartge X10 Black EVO Edition.
The shop I’m trying to buy from is recommending me to go for 255/30/20 in front and 285/25/20 for rear.
Now I know if I go a size down, the comfortability will probably go away, so I want to do 255/35/20 for front and 285/30/20 for rear.
But the shop is telling me there will be rubbing if I do this tire size.
Now I was wondering, if you guys recommend me to go for the tire size the shop is recommending me or the one that I want to go for.
I’m fine with inserting spacers etc to avoid tire rubbing since I don’t want it to damage my car.
Please let me know your opinion.
Any help is appreciated 🙌🏽
I will also add a pic about the tires information and etc.
Like I said, any help is appreciated.

20x9 +25 --> 255/35/20
and
20x11+44 --> 295/30/20
This is 1 tire size up, as standard move to 20in makes them 30/25 profile instead of 35/30. I don't rub but offsets and widths will be different. For example, my tires have more stretch because the rims are wider. No budge on sidewalls which can usually be a few mm.

What is your wheel size?
And what offset are you going for?

Yea, my wheels are very different from yours…
The front of yours is almost the same as my rear.
But, still do you recommend me to go for the tire size the shop is recommending or go for the tire size I want to?
I think the stock ET for both front and rear is set 25 by the manufacturer.
I still have 15mm to go up.
If so, what offset do you recommend me to go for front and rear.
Thanks.

I’m trying to go for 35/30, the same aspect ratio as the tire on stock OEM wheels on cls.
Also, how do you find the best offset?
I don’t want to go for the offset set by the manufacturer which in both front and end is 25et.

The recommended offset for the wheels is 25 on front and 25 on back. You think I should raise the back to 28?

I contacted the wheel manufacturer ( KOYA in my case) directly and got them to confirm the best fitment for the size I wanted. The place that supplied the wheels and tyres also verified the fitment with the manufacturer. The wheels were then ordered with the correct offsets....If they didn't fit or rubbed, it was the suppliers problem, not mine.
NO issues at all.
thanks!
Alex.
