Sold my 03' Porsche Turbo recently. Want a four door car and next thing I know, I ended up being here...

Anyhow, I am close to pulling the trigger on a CLS500 with AMG package. Can someone give me some advise on the following:

1) Exhaust-tips from the AMG package is supposed to be different(oval shape) than the non-AMGs. Am I blind cuz I don't see any difference!!??

2) IMO--Silver looks the best for this car. My 996tt was a silver car with black-center rims. If I go with silver again on the CLS..I may have to stick with the same color-combo. Therefore, in need for some change, I am now leaning toward black!!?? BTW, I saw both black and silver in person. Silver looks boring afte a while; black looks stunning as long as you wax/dust the damn everyday :v

3) The one I have my eyes on is black on black with light-pkg, parktronic, premium pkg, AMG, keyless-go. Any "must-get" option you can tell me?

Lastly, feel free to tell me anything you want regarding the options and color-combo.

Black is hot on the CLS - however, several people including myself who have seen both colors in person agree that the car does lose some of it's defining lines in darker colors.

That said, there is a sick Brabus kitted one in black on the forum and it looks amazing - the car is dope no matter what, so go with what you like.

yeah black does look emazing indeed. With some black rims it will look absolutely gorgeous. I never really liked white but i feel that white is very nice on the car. About the oval tips. The 55 AMG has quad exhaust. I believe thats what you are talking about? the 500 with the amg sports package only has dual oval tips. Why not go with the cls 55 amg? oh and gorgeous SL you have there :

Get CLS500, black on black. Get some nice polished rims with a chrome lip. Get a nice exhaust system with some MPower type tips, and you're set.

Silver?
I too love silver; already own a 2004 silver E320.

When I lined up every color in the dealer lot, I bought the pewter CLS500 with dark gray interior. The pewter gives a deep color look like black, but has the bling bling benefits of silver. I highly recommend it.

I have all the options you mentioned plus the auto trunk closer. That pretty much covers all the major "must get" options. You can add the SAT ($1400) radio too if you want commercial free radio. Distronic cruise control will make you feel sleepy on long drives so I don't recommend it. The other options are minors like the Ipod integration (not avail yet) and tel. Get the CLS instead of A8.

Both cars look amazing in black.

They're not in the same class, but I would go for the 2005 A8.

raydoug777 any pictures of exterior/interior? That is one of the color combos I am agonizing over. ;-) Don't know if it is just me but the 05 Pewter I have seen on other Mercs has a more brownish tint to it under "flat" lighting.

tofumann Beautiful Porsche. Sorry it had to go. I'm not a fan of the new huge mouth of the A8. Just personal preference. Good luck with whatever you go with.

I have all options you mentioned and hcden mentioned auto trunk closer too. I really feel that this is all you need to have. I 2nd hcden too. I have silver with beige and I really like the silver on CLS. Black looks good but I don't know why that silver looks better to me. Yes, I agreed with you that it needs to keep cleaning/dusting to maintain that killer black look. Otherwise I will go for white or silver exterior.

Cheers!

I looked at the strech version of the A-8 and it has a beautiful interior. The exterior is also quite nice. Unfortunately I cannot get past the "Audi" name. To me Audi's owners have been those who could not afford a "Benz". Just my "opinion".
