Mercedes Benz has to be the worst car ever!

I gotta say that since my old 99Sclass MB seems to just be dead *** unreliable. My 2004 e class was towed in at least 10 times and brake failure amongst other things which made them finally buy back my vehicle. They swapped me into a 2006 CLS which is 1.5 weeks old, guess what; this POS has now died on me showing me the true quality of the car. The car just revs and cannot catch a gear, check engine light on and dosent seem to be resetting itself. Now Im sorry but were talking 75+ on both of the cars Ive bought in the past year and all they seem to do is brake down. I've never in my life experienced so many problems with a manufacter, Im so upset I even signed another lease. It's like they bought one problem and handed me over another. Thank MB, your cars suck ***!!!
btw> My 2002 Audi A6 3.0 has never been in the shop; ever! This is such a poor excuse for engineering, I mean if you cannot get all the electronics to work together, then dont friggen use them!

sounds like youre the lucky lemon getter, do u play lotto?

while i agree MB quality and service are not the greatest, (have 99 Lex GS thats still perfect), it sounds like your problems are no where near the norm. Ive owned my CLS for almost 3 months now, and it has been flawless (knocking hard on matte wood). hopefully similar issues do not arise with other owners, and i hope you get this sorted out and into a more reliable benzo, i could definitlety see your frustration.

good luck!

I Love Audi's. I traded a beautiful, perfect, no problem A6 for my C. It was my 8th Audi. I still think from time to time I'd like a new A6. It Never complained, and couldnt be stopped in the snow. My 200TQ prior to that was a sweetheart too. The others were just simple, but good cars. Took them a few years to get it together, though. Finally did in my opinion.

So sorry to hear about the MB problems - so far I'm all good, but I'm only at 260 miles. My last E was almost flawless - of the 37k miles, it was only in for some minor issue once early on that I can't remember now.

My e500 had 13k miles when they bought it back, it had been towed at least 10 times and spent like 3.5 months at the service centers. The car was a nonstop headache and when the brake failed while I was driving causing me to almost kill myself it was the last straw. Had to fight with them for like 5 months and they finally swapped out my car for the cls500. I figured they would had resolved the problems since they've had like 3 years of testbedding the w211 and the c219 shares mostly everything. Unfortunately my thoughts were incorrect and this car is just as big as a POS as my e500. I just don't expect a 80k dollar car to brake down with 300miles on it.

Yeah, IMO a $80k car should never hit the shop except for service - I can't believe your luck with these two cars. I'd stay indoors if there are any lightning storms.

I also had very bad experience with my previous 2001 MB M320.
My ML had at least 2-3 warrenty fix EVERY MONTH & got towed twice...
Got sick of visiting dealer for warrenty fix after owning 10 months and sold it.

Most problems were mostly electronics(such as window switch faiilures) and design defects...
What in the world who claims to be making cars near 100 years still cant make window switch right??? BIG BIG disappointment for MB.

More disappointing thing is....my ML was 4th year production, and I still cant believe MB didnt try anything to solve lota problems with ML.
I can go all day long with problems I had with ML...

But I believe ML was bad quaility MB because it was first car that they designed/made in USA

With CLS, I am giving one more chance to MB...hope it willl do better than my prev ML. (even tho I swear that I wont buy MB again when I had ML)

greetingz,
Well mine is not 60K KM but my ML is 20K miles and never visit dealership after 50K miles last free service. My 5 months old 05 E500 got no problem except minor seat adjustment. My 06 CLS so far so good. Good luck!

This sucks, man!! I am a little worried about the abrupt downshifts when slowing down; anyone else notice that?

I heard a few lemon car cases from launch edition and the notorious ML quality issues here.
Guess the 3 year old w211 fixed all the bugs, the w219 should be bug free, but there's just a recall for CLS

...Yup. somtimes I'll arrive at an intersection, under normal breaking and just before the wheels stop rolling, wham! first gear. I have taken it to the dealer 5 times for goofey trans shifts, they say it all okay. Ever get a double bump 1-2, 2-3 shifts? like it shifted twice each time?

..I was talking to a guy at Baum tools in Florida when I ordered an engine oil dipstick, and he was telling me that there's been some trouble with "shift adaptation" software and maybe the valve body. MB just keeps reseting it so it can re-re-re-relearn my driving habbbits.
