I just got my CLS last week and negotiated with the dealer to lower it for me which they will do today. They said it will lower around 2" in the back and 1" in the front (or the opposite, not sure).

I am also having them painting the grill in black ( the body color ) and debadging it.

Any thoughts / opinions?

Is the dealership lowering the car using the star diagnostic system? I didn't think the dealerships would do that for you? Are they charging you anything to do this?

In general its not a good idea to lower the car more on one axle than the other. The car's original suspension is designed around a particular weight distribution. When you lower more on one end you change the weight distribution and change all the handling/braking characteristics of the car. If you lower, lower exactly the same all around.

They changed on the computer. I dont think they changed the geometry though.
The grill looks amazing. They painted only the gray portion of it. I may end up mainting the rome fins too, but will leave it as is first.

They debadged it and removed all the internal stickers ( MB, alarm, etc ).

how do you get the dealer to lower your car?...what exactly do they do?...

Hello, I had my CLS lowered about a 1-1/2 front and rear at a F1 motorsports and it sits right on top of the front and rear tires, on the lowest ride height. I dont really know how it is done but it cost me $400.00 and I am very happy. Email me @ larryv@surfree.com and I will send you pictures. Nice setup! Well done! What are the specs on your tires? What is your opinion on the ride before vs. after the rims and lowering? F-1 is ~ 30 min. from my office. They do a lot of good work. Did they do your rotors too? Can you tell any difference with the slotted rotors? The debadging makes for a really clean look. Chromed tork bolts was a nice attention to detail! Enjoy the pics!

The wheels are 20x9 and 20x11 with 255/30/20 and 305/25/20 Conti sport Contacts. The ride is still very comfortable at the lowest setting with no rubbing what so ever. As for the rotors I had my buddy Dave @ GPR in San Luis Obisbo slot the rotors. On this car the rotors and chrome torx bolts where mainly for looks as well as the chrome anti rattle clips in the rear. Slotted rotors are supposed to be easier on the brake pads and release gases under hard braking, which won't be done on this CLS. I will send you some pictures of the colorsanding, what a Difference!
