They are so right when they say the wheels can make or break the car.
In this case, I say make
Those are some of the coolest looking VIP style rims I have ever set my eyes on.

Yeah but the ten spoke design doesn't do it for me. I either like the full mesh style, or a five spoke minimalistic style.Originally Posted by AMG2GO

Mesh style? BBS RS GT is like 21 pounds in 19x10. Strong as they come. Not the right mesh for ya?Originally Posted by ricky.agrawal

Really do like the comp wheels, did a set here for an M3. C20 charcoal finish 19x9 and 10's. But i think the Comp wheels look too small for the CLS with the stepped lip and all.Originally Posted by ricky.agrawal
HRE Comp's. You know you want to.

I love the BBS RS GT.
However, it doesn't have the lip
BTW: If I do get wheels, they'll have to be 22 inches minimum and 11 inches wide in the rear minimum.

Well, the lip sometimes comes at a cost. And honestly I admire a company like BBS that refuses to produce a wheel they see unfit for motorsport just because it happens to be aestheticaly popular. That's why they don't make wrong offsets to create extra lip, and that's why they don't make 22's. It costs them sales, but they prefer to keep their reputation intact.Originally Posted by ricky.agrawal

This is what is dissapointing in HRE. They now have a line of wheels that I (nor any engineer at HRE I am sure) would ever put on a car. For all the talk about performance, they now make some stuff that is totaly unfit for a performance vehicle.
If you see something on a car and don't really know what it does, it can look "cool"... but if you see something that you KNOW is a total detriment to it, you can't help but to think it looks rather dumb.
To me putting 22" wheels on a car like a CLS, is not all that different in concept than someone who buys a 6" exhaust tip and clamps it to the 1.5" exhaust pipe of his Corrolla. The only difference is one guy has more money.

Oh no! I don't have a CLS. Remember, I have an X5.
HRE has the competition series that is designed for performance.
Some companies have different attitudes towards making products. Hey, I love BBS, but their style just isn't for me in my case. If I had something like a coupe, I know BBS would probably be my first choice. Lightweight, strong, and they look fantastic. However on the X5, it's not like I'm going to race the car, so trying to stretch my eyes to overlook something such as HRE's would be foolish. (But at the same time, I'm not going to put 30lb rims on the car!)
