Tire Replacement

I have the continentials on my car now. I have 14K miles and I have been advised that I need new tires. First when is everyone else replacing tires? Secondly if they do need replacing, any suggestions on something else? I dont want to have to replace tires every 14K. Thanks.

14k?

That sounds too soon. All 4 or just the front/rear? Why do they need replaced? Are they wearing evenly or on the sides? Are you a hard driver? Like to know more.

Yes I am a hard driver. And probably not the best one either. I have had two flats They are wearing evenly. All four need to be replaced. They are wearing on the sides however. I thought this was to soon also but they sound loud also. I am getting a second opinion but frankly I would suspect a tire salesman will tell me I need tires.

without seeing them even if you are a hard driver i think they are okay for at least 6th more . personally i change every 40th approx. two years used tires ofcourse they should be either mischlen, prellie or continental which is the best IMO.

It's never too soon to replace Contis...there has never been a Conti I liked.
My suggestion: Buy Michelins Pilot Sport A/S and forget about tires: rain or
shine or snow. Check out the reviews: better in wet, better in dry, way better
in snow than Pilot Sport. Nothing else counts for day to day driving..

I hear you on the Conti's!
(although the new SC2's are supposed to be way better)

If you live in a climate without too much snow the Pilot Sport A/S is an excellent year-round, comfortable, long-wearing tire....

I'm not a hard driver, have 8K miles on factory Continentals with no appreciable wear. Wife's CLK320 Continentals lasted 24K in the rear, no hard driver she. I always replace with Michelins.
