Lowering my CLS 550...How far down???

I was somewhat suprised by the quick reply from my MB service manager that the dealership would lower my new CLS 550 using the Star diagnostics software. I am going to have it done as soon as possible.

My question is how much should it be lowered? Should the car be lowered the same amount front and rear? I'm not into the "slammed" look. Just want a sporty, hunched down look. I would like to have a clue to what kind of changes to ask for and at least get close on the first try.

Keep in mind I live in Indianapolis where the road are better than Detroit or Chicago (but only just). I am running the 18" AMG wheels that came on the car suntil next spring and then going up to 19's or 20's keeping the same diameter and offsets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1.It only takes a few minutes and they will normally let u come back and check if thats where you want it

2. The Star Diagnostic way is the only safe way and it will only lower so far which is good

3.Check my car out as I had them lower it to the lowest setting and as you see its perfect and those are 20x9's and 20x11's

P.S. Make sure to have it aligned afterwards

Thanks. Thats exactly what I needed to know. Did you know much lower it ends up? Any change in the ride or handling?

Never mind the measurements question...I just read the rest of the other thread. I will take some gap measurements on mine for reference. thanks again.

Just for future reference to anyone else interested in having this done by a dealership, the cost quoted was $260 which included the alignment.

Basically paying for the alignment and a small labor charge. There is now some question to whether the alignment should need to be adjusted. I am having a CLS 63 rear spoiler and front grill installed at the same time. Car should have a more agressive look. Hopefully I will post some before and after pictures with measurements on the ride height change.

Try Beshoff Motors in San Jose. But do it at your next service. If they refuse to lower the car, then tell them you'll have it service elsewhere. Dealers will not turn down an oppertunity to make some $$$

I went with the washer method for my 55.
