AMG package worth it ?

Hey guys, I am about to jump the gun for a new 07 CLS550. Is it worth the $5000 for the AMG package? Which include the paddle shift, change of rim and different bumper/side skirts? What do they mean by lower body work ???

Should I just take the $5000 to get the third party rims and Lorinser or whatever body kit myself ?

I really don't care for the paddle shifter though. Did anyone order that package?

AMG package

Lower body work is the airdam and side skirts if I am not mistaken.

I prefer after market rims. Lorinser makes a really nice kit but together the rims and the kit will be > $5000.

I can't believe someone would even consider getting the CLS without the AMG kit. $5K is an amazing deal if you ask me considering all other after party vendors would charge that just for rims. ANDDDDD if you do get the kit and you want to sell me your 19s + tires I'll buy'em from you.

Either get the AMG kit, sell the 18's and get 20's or get the non-amg kit and get your own body kit and 20's,but for a decent kit the second option will be more $$$$$$ for sure. I like the AMG body kit more then most aftermarket kits.

Go for it... AMG kit in my opinion is the nices kit out there... The car looks plain without it!

So, the AMG package would have the same front bumber, mesh air dam, rear bumber and side skirt like the CLS63?

The AMG kit is well worth the money. As far as compared to the CLS63, my CLS550 AMG kit did not have the rear spoiler but I had the dealer install one for around $750. The front grill in the CLS63 is the 3 blade painted rather than the CLS550 4 blade with chrome accents. I think that was also around $750 installed but I found one on Ebay and stole it for $53! Changing the grill is a 3 bolt, 5 minute job. To me the AMG grill and spoiler give the car a more agressive look. Finally, however you do it, lower the car a little or a lot depending on your taste. The stock ride height is too high.

I guess there always needs to be some disagreement, so I'll vote no to the AMG package. I looked at the cars side by side and I just don't see $5k. No personal interest in the paddle shifters on an automatic tranny. Add a tighter suspension, better brakes, or an improved exhaust, then okay.

I just ordered an SL550 and left the AMG package off -paorama did make though. IMO, the stock wheels look better on the SL. On the CLS, it's a draw.

Yeah but the new SL550 without the AMG kit looks more aggresive then a CLS with no AMG kit.....well worth the 5k IMO.

If you're not planning on changing the stock body kit then the AMG kit is a must!!!

I didn't buy the AMG package and with the money I saved + a few dollars more I put 20" Radenegie's and a Kleeman lowering module. The AMG bodywork is nice but the aftermarket selection is richer.

I would agree with most everyone on the board. The AMG kit is the best way to go. Also, if you are concerned at all about resale, you are better off with the AMG kit instead of the aftermarket stuff.

I totally think the AMG kit is worth the money. It looks so much better with it on, I don't even look too much at MBs without it on.

I'll agree with Silberrosa on that, the resale on the AMG fitted CLS is definitely going to be stronger. If you want to leave it more or less stock, then I would agree that the AMG option is worth it.
