Big problem with my CLS, PLEASE ADVISE...
So I took my 06 CLS500 to the dealer yesterday to have a service, rattle in the door, rattle in the dash speaker, and some wiper blades done. Get it back and there is a huge *** crease in my driver door right towards the front. I am pissed so I go back in and show the guy who obviously tells me they will fix it. THe problem got worse, the tech manager comes out and asks me to take a look at the car on the passenger side. Both the doors have a much smaller but still noticable crease in the same spot. The manager tells me it is the pillar inside the door of the CLS's that pulls on the sheet metal causing this and the dent they fix will just come back over time.
Now that he has shown this to me it is one of those things that I can't help but notice everytime I see my car. They proceed to tell me there is nothing they can do about it and it is out of there hands. After about 10 minutes of choice words to this guy I calm down and decide I have to do some reasearch on this. I didn't spend $75K on a car to have it dent ITSELF. Has anyone heard of this issue with the CLS yet? What can/should I do about this. At this point I would rather just trade the car in on a BMW....

WOW!!! thats ![Bsflag](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bsflag.gif)
do you have some photos?? there is no way that the car is going to dent its self. it sounds like to me that they had the car on the lift and opend the door and hit the door in to the lift, if its in the same spot both sides there is a very good chance that they opend the doors in to the lift. i have seen that many of times!!!

THat was my first reaction when the guy told me it was a common problem with the CLS. I told him I should have bought a kia and got a 100,000 mile warranty for $20K if I wanted a POS car then I wouldn't care about dents. It is back at the dealer now getting the major dent on the driver door fixed. I will try to get pics of the others when i get the car back.

As did all the other dealers around here I called. They are fixing all the doors right now. I am not stopping there as I will also right Hoehn a letter about this. When I pick up my car I am going to find the service manager and have him follow me into his boss's office. There I will simply ask him to relay the line of BS he told me about my car to his boss. Not only did he discredit the brand Mercedes but he told me too bad there is nothing they can do about it.

Sounds like this service manager is full of crap. I would claim it as a lemon if not corrected. A car that damages itself.

What a load of crap MB will actually field a car into production with this kind of flaw? I don't think so, that guy should be shot for trying to pull a fast one.

I say document all of this...speak to the manager of the dealership and also call the regional office. At the very least ask to speak with the regional rep that visits the dealers.

I am collecting the names and taking this to the top of the food chain here. I have to go back wednesday and have a appointment with the service director to go ahead and clue him in on what his manager is telling his customers. He was already gone for the day on Friday when I picked up the car.
