Whats up guys. I was a little tired of the limited bass that was comming into the passanger area, so I made an improvement. The factory subwoofer was removed, which created a port behind the rear headrests. The port now allows sound to flow from the trunk into the car. The bass has now doubled in sound. I also tried to make it look a little nice, but you can only see it if you get down low and look up, no big deal. check it out.

you catch on quickly young jedi.
most people with subs in the trunk of a CLS won't hear it much, but this mod helps. It makes a big difference. The grille behind the rear headrests covers the hole, so you really wont see or notice the removal of the factory sub.
here are some pics of an install where they took out the OEM sub, and installed a bigger sub in its place.

in your Mom's car
Now is that an open air sub that they installed?? I was going to do something similar to what you suggested in my GTO but the fuel pump was back there and it would be a loud humming sound the whole time so I just left my 6x9's in the deck.

Yeah, you would hear the pump if the stereo off, or playing really low. My wife is shopping for a new car, and if she gets a CLS I might try that open air sub for her. She really likes the new C class though.

I have been trying to get subs in my car for months now, no one will touch the car. they are saying that the car has mics that will adjust the sound and will not let a sub work. the mics must be removed what did you guys do for to solve that issue??

What? I've never been told that one. Most shops will turn you away. You need to go to custom stereo shop for help. Circuit city and similar shops usually wont touch the car.
My installer tapped into the factory amp to get a line out. I will ask him for details and post it one of these days. But JL audio's clean sweep is another option. My system was designed for clarity, and it thumps. It is one of the best sounding systems that I have ever had in a car.

Hey khelawanb,
I've been looking around these forums for a while now, and your car looks awesome! I am thinking of getting a used 2006 CLS 500 (like yours) for a good price, and adding some mods. Your vehicle has is my GOD! I love it. It's the exact type of car I want. If you could point me out to some of those mods (exterior especially) and advise me that would be much appreciated.
I know this is a bit off topic, but I didn't know where else to post it.

No worries man. If you ever have questions on anything just PM me and I will give you as much info as I can. I was a little worried when the car was first worked on back in Jan 2006. It was a scary process for me. But because of people like myself and KevinM, and a few others, we have learned allot about this beautiful car, which will become a classic in the future for sure.
dont forget to PM me when you are ready gupta

your right Khelawanb.. on my 97' S420 i had a box built with a neck that connected it to the rear deck.. In those older models they had the first aid kit in the middle of the rear deck.. I had them cut the hole out and fab a something that was the same shape as the kit with a screen the exact size of the first aid kit on the top instead of the hatch.. 100% better and was flawless..
