O KAY!! I think that settles it. The clear majority would no way in hell own a CLS without a factory warranty.

Why would anyone want to own any new car without a warranty ?

was thinking about picking up a 06 with about 35,000 miles, but I like to drive my cars past 50,000 miles because registration fee's and depreciation fee's are crazy. I don't like to constantly change cars.

the 06 (just two years old) have dropped by about 50 percent from MSRP when new.

It's not that the car itself would be deemed unreliable its the fact that anything out of warranty is going to cost you an arm and a leg and probably some finger nails to fix. I haven't owned a CLS but I have had many MB products in the past and from my experience they tend to hold up well. The problem I have noticed and seems to be a trend with the cars I've owned is at or around the 40k -50k mile range all sorts of small annoying problems will pop up. Nothing major but they will certainly require a trip to the service center. These small problems will amount to an insane amount for parts and labor, never fails. So for that reason I trade my cars in before the 50k 4 year warranty is up.

If you were to get a used MB through a MB dealership they will usually spot you a 100k warranty, these cars used to be called Starmark cars, but they haven't used that term in awhile. Starmark basically amounted to a car that passed all their service tests and came back with a clean title. Using smart used car buying tips like a Carfax report a good look over of the car and getting them to throw in a 100k warranty and you shouldn't have much to worry about.

If you drive your car with some respect it should last about 1 million km or so. These 3 year old cars with 40,000km are barely warmed up.

Unless you live in Dubai or something. Then you can do 360 degree spins on the freeway at high speed or crash into pedestrians while drag racing.

Once your Mercedes reaches 1M Km Daimler will give you a new one. You will notice that most cars that travel that distance are European. People in other countries have a fear of having to pay for regular service items.

Very funny. I don't have a warranty but I hardly even drive mine. Only use it for weekend excursions around town. I might go back and get an additional warranty before my 50K is up though, lol.

When I got my 06 CLS500, I made sure I paid an additional $2500 for a 100K mile warranty from MB, not a 3rd party warranty dealer. I felt allot more comfortable with a OEM warranty from MB. It's good until 2012 or 100k miles. I think I will hit maybe 100K before then since I use mine for work and travel.
