07-09 CLS improvements and changes???
hi guys, let me first preface this saying that 98' and '02 mercedes cars i owned were the biggest POS cars i ever bought. but i hear quality has vastly improved since 07 model year cars.
were there some significant improvements to the CLS in 2007? what were they, and were there additional important upgrades/updates in 08 or 09? if yes, i'd probably buy the later model year car.

with 09, they changed the whole comand interface (just like 09 E) with built in hard drive and bluetooth and bunch of other goodies. i think it also gets new tail lights and trapezoid exhaust tips instead of oval.
this is about all i know personally.

basically hit all of the points. The mods should pin this. Could be helpful especially since this question seems to come up at least once a week.
from what i know with the 06 to 07: no more SBC, no dynamic massage seats (base gets manual lumbar and AMG gets just multicontour), new engines: 500 to 550 and 55 to 63.

The 2009's also got a new steering wheel, slightly revamped instrument cluster, 2 fin grille, sport package PLUS added, and new side mirrors. And yeah, the taillights are different, they have the same overall shape but the blinker/reverse light setup is different, and they're LED now.
And of course different rims..
The CLS, from a quality standpoint is a GREAT car!

Come on now was the W210 E55 really that bad?
I got a 06 CLS500 w/ amg package. Make sure you buy a CPO. Make sure you get the extended warranty. 500 Vs 550 ect they are all boring to drive, but you don't buy a mercedes for driving excitment anyway, thats what M3s and Porsches are for. Its a great car, and it will stay current for another 18 months. The quality of the 06-07s is better to me. If i were you I'd get a low mileage 07 550 w/ AMG pkg that is cpoed. Alot of the 06s CPOs can be had for 30000. an 07 550 will tack on another 6000-10000.
