2004 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG
2006 Mercedes CLS500 with Rims

In the process of selling my E55 AMG and am searching for my next ride. Came across a car that really suits my profile and the only problem is that it is 3,000 miles away. I am thinking around $35K if I can get it at that price.

What do you guys think of the rims etc.?

Are you seriously considering replacing an AMG with this? Won't sound or go like an AMG. You'll be miserable each time an AMG thunders past. You might want to pass on this and look for a CLS 55 or 63 instead...

Not necessarily on the AMG part. True enough, if he has an AMG now he may have some withdrawal due to less power (305 HP VS 469). It depends on what the OP is really looking for. A car with a lot of power or something a little more scaled back that looks nice.

To the OP, Why are looking to scale back?

The car you are looking at is nice, but I definitely would not get a car with a light interior from experience...just my preference.

Also, if where he lives does not have many AMG's on the road...that certainly would not matter about any passing him. In Atl for instance, AMG's are not commonplace.

My AMG cost a fortune in upkeep. Figured if I drop the AMG I could save $1,000/Year. I would love a CLS63 AMG but I don't think they are in my range.

Well sure, you can save quite a bit. Brakes and calipers alone would save over 1K a year in upkeep in comparison to an AMG vs Non.

Other than brakes, what would increase in the AMG models?

Nice car, but the price is too high for me. You can get a 2008 cls 550 AMG package for around $40-42 with 30K and then spend on rims and so forth IMO. Good Luck

Yea, I am in agreeance on the price thing. I think his asking price is way too high for a 2006 CLS500, even if its a "P2". I just bought a 60,000 mile 2006 CLS500 Limited Designo Package and paid "less" than $25,500. Not trying to rain on your parade but to pay even $10,000 more for all those bolt on goodies, well, I think you get my point.

I say look some more. In your area there are a bunch of CLS's on the market. Look in the Philly area, or even in Fla. Those places are closer than Simi Valley, Calif. (I went to high school there.) Lots of good deals out there. Keep looking....

PS: I bought mine in Orlando. I live in Charlotte and flew down and drove it back.....
