Question Need help picking out 19" AMG Wheels...pics inside

I currently have the 18” AMG wheels below (1st pic) on my 2009 CLS550 but I really want a set of 19” OEM AMG wheels. I know some will say that I should go aftermarket but I really like the AMG wheels. I am trying to decide between the 4 different 19” AMG wheels below (some are from CLS 55 or CLS 63). I really like the silver 5-star CLS55 AMG wheels (pic 2) but I wasn’t sure if that would date the car at all to the earlier CLS.. The machined tri-bar (pic 3) and the machine 5-star (pic 4 - also on the SL) are also nice. I think my favorite may be the machined double-spoke 5-star (pic 5) that I have seen on some pictures CLS63’s online…BUT I can’t find those wheels anywhere (let alone find their part number). What does everyone else think?

Like to drive?

Like your ride quality?
Like to not have cracked rims?
Like traction?
If reply to any of the above keep your 18's
or get a different style 18 oem or aftermarket
The 19's will ruin all items mentioned The stock 550 suspension is not designed nor tuned for 19's especially staggered 19's

19"s are factory option on the CLS 550. I'm sure MB isn't offering this option knowing that customer cars will be compromised to a level where overall satisfaction is greatly reduced.

While a larger wheel and shorter sidewall height will not improve ride quality, it surely will not "ruin" it. Personally I think you're greatly overstating the effects of +1 sizing. I've also read about plenty of cracked 18"s over the years and I'm interested to know how this config is going to compromise traction.

Couldn't agree more. As for the wheels, I like #3 and 5.

Well, #5 are my favorite but I can't find a set for under $5k..even on ebay. Sure, there are replicas out there but the offsets usually aren't right. It's true, I've always been a fan of #2 but I just can't really decide.

+1 on what boschk said...but i say #2 is my fav..followed by 3..but YOU'RE the one driving it..so make sure you get the one YOU like.. . Also, if you are planning to buy these brand new from mercedes it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg I'm assuming..(for that amount of money you better off getting aftermarket that looks similar)

for CLS i think 2 is the sickest looking AMG wheel the rest r too busy ..Honest opinion 2 and 4 both look great..

I completely agree. I have these on my 550 and I absolutely love them. The concave on the rear wheels set it off as well. I get compliments on them all the time. By far my favourite AMG wheels.

That special above the the tr-bar rims sounds good but I think i'm really leaning towards #2. I have always liked #5 but they're out of my price range....even on ebay! It's too bad you can't get #2 in a machined look.

Overall, I think i'm really going to go for #2. It's classic and looks incredible.

I have done the aftermarket 20's for almost 2 years etc, and I am back on 18 staggered OEM's right now. I don't think 19's staggered would be an issue at all, being that CLS500/550's come with the Sport option which are staggered AMG's in the first place.

My buddy has #2 from his CLS55, and offered them up for less than....$700.

So that is an option I am weighing as that would be much less than any aftermarket, and 20's are a little too harsh on the ride quality IMO. I think 19's would do the job nicely.

Ok guys...I have narrowed it down to two wheels.....#2 and #4. They seem to be the easiest to come by on ebay or other places for a decent price. I like the looks of #2 because it looks clean and stylish. BUT, I really do like #4 because of the machined finish. Too hard to choose unless I get a really good deal on one over another.

i like #2 iam pretty sure if you keep your eyes peeled in the classified section: wheels and tires section - you will be able to find a great set of oem wheels - people are always buying and selling.

#2 looks too much like your OEM one's now so i dont think it's worth the $$ spent IMHO soo i'd go with #4

Good luck in your decision !
