Ideal tire size for 20" wheels 9" front (+20mm), 10.5" rear (+20mm) Renntech lowered

Searching for this in the CLS forum is not yielding me much. Please help if you're able and thanks in advance.

What tire size is the best/ideal? I was told this:

245/30/20 front
285/25/20 rear

fronts: 20x9 with 20mm offset
rears: 20x10.5 with 20mm offset

Have the Renntech ELM v3. Want to have it lowered with a 1 to 0 inch gap and not necessarily rub under normal driving.

But I do also value the ride being comfortable. Want a balanced ride that is lowered and would prefer more rubber than less. Also, don't want the stretched tire look.

Thanks again.

I'm running 245/35/20 in the front and 285/30/20 in the rear (20x8.5 & 20x10.5, not sure about the offset honestly), I think running a 30 in front and 25 tire profile will compromise your ride comfort, and it'll be pretty sensitive to small cracks in the road. You'll be able to go lower with a smaller profile without worrying about rubbing, but since you have an ELM that shouldn't be that much of an issue. Had mine lowered with links and just use the airmatic to drop and lower it as a please, but my car is DUMPED at its lowest and rubs once in a wile when its at that height. Hope this helpeddd!

For SoCal, I say 245-35-20 for the front and 285-30-20 for the rear. It seems like front has Berry aggressive offset with +20 on 9 in width.

thank you all for the suggestions! I might end up going with the

255/30/20 in the fronts and 305/25/20 in the rears.

UDWANTIT2 - do you rub at all (i.e. u-turns?)

Also.... got a flat in my 19" so instead of repairing, I'm going to just go and get them all installed right away!

Thanks again all.

I forget exactly, but I believe my offsets are 20mm front and back.... maybe 18mm in front, but I'm leaning towards 20mm.

OK, I put it off a week, but my day is flexible and I'm going to get some tires slapped on these wheels and will get some pictures soon.

I think I'm going with what UDWANTIT2 says... 255/30 in the front and 305/25 in the rear. So far, the Renntech lowering has been cool. Fun experiment thus far.

Above statement is absolutely false.

1. The diameter of 245/35-20 and 285/30-20 is 26.7 to 26.8 depending on tire brand.

2. The diameter of 255/30-20 and 305/25-20 is 26.0 for most (if not all) tire brands.

As can be seen from above, the diameter difference is .7 to .8 of an inch (almost full 2cm), which makes each sidewall of #1 above almost .4 of an inch (or almost a full 1cm) higher than #2. The ride on #1 is much more complient than on #2.

You misunderstood what im saying.......245/35/20 n 285/35/20 have same diameter Overall..... n 255/30/20 n 305/25/20 will also have the same diameter which means both setup will work on the CLS.....I have 255/305 n i love it......when i said go with 255/30 n 305/25 is cause its overall height is lower n goes well with the lowering.......

OFFSET is for CAR has nothing to do with lowering.......if offset is not for the car it will rub even if not lowered...

Had 20's, 30/25 is too damn low profile. Cracked, bent, tire blowouts and rough handling. I would go for 19's.

I use to have 20 front 15 rear on the GFG s but wanted more aggresive stance......so i went with 15 front n 10 rear on 20 by 9.5 n 20 by 11.5

with 255/30 n 305/25.....................sits flush with the car n looks aggresive as hell....

but u will have to get them custom made like me no body makes that offset.......special Build..
