Removal of 6CD changer for Storage Bin
Hi ,
I've seen it where some people have removed cd changer and installed storage bin and door still raises. I had seen a site which were selling the storage bins to be replaced with the 6CD changer .. I cant find it anymore .. Desperately looking for them ..
Any help will be highly appreciated ..
Thank you
Best wishes

Thank you all for the support and reply
So basically if you want to remove the CD changer and convert it into a storage area you need
Deleted the CD Changer and installed storage container
Pigeonhole Part # 2196800552
The 2 fiber wires in the connector going into the changer had to be removed from the connector and "spliced" together using the coupler in the kit from the dealer
Cable Harness Part # 2115406633
The Storage Container Part is $185 ( seems a bit steep for just a plastic box )
Cable Harness is $25
Thank you

Part number for the tray to replace the changer is A2116830091 and in the UK is £12.74.
The pigeonhole you listed is the whole bit with the flip up front bit that the cd changer is mounted in which you already have.
You should also be able to use this part A0005453384 to splice the fibre optic cable together which is a tenth of the price of the "harness" you've listed.

Won't work for you mate, the lid is controlled by the box of tricks that used to be in your boot before you stripped it.
On the facelift cars that have the NTG2.5, and therefore missing the boxes in the boot as standard, the box won't open at all, if you spec the cd changer on them it's a different version of the headunit with the changer built in.

Did mine yesterday, piece of cake no need for a how to. The MOST coupler is actually A0005454484 rather than the one I posted earlier which is for the older system and is a bit cheaper too.
The box is only a few inches deep but I guess thats so you can reach whatever you out in there and still more useful than a cd changer nowadays.

I know this is an old thread, but I figured asking anyhow...
I too want to change out my CD changer for a storage compartment, but I have a few questions.
I too want to change out my CD changer for a storage compartment, but I have a few questions.
- I swapped out my NTG head unit for an Android unit, so am bypassing fiber optics in the car. Would I still need a fiber optic closeout in order for the CD changer panel to operate?
- If I remove the CD changer and just keep the panel, is there an empty compartment already there or do I need to buy a separate part and insert it in the empty space where the CD changer was?
- Would you be able to provide instructions? (sorry, I'm a complete noob)

looking for a cd changer
My cd changer quit on me.. Ive bought 2 off ebay and one had the wrong fiber optic connection, which I was told it changed in 2007. The second one, both connections were correct, but this unit would not power up. I have a 09 clk 350.
many thanks..
