Clanking sound from rear after car is turned off
2019 CLS 450 4Matic, ~50k miles
It just started making a clanking and whirring sound from the driver side rear right after the car is turned off: About 4 cycles in a row of whir-clank...lasts about 10 sec. Then it stops.
Any ideas?

It's been a bit elusive to capture lol, but here it is with some background noise (someone putting a suitcase on the ground and starting to wheel it). The subject noise is a clanking-ratcheting sound that starts after the trunk lid is closed (the closing of the trunk lid is not correlated with the noise). This occurs about 36 sec after the ignition is turned off.

Haven't figured it out yet and it's still happening. I was thinking it was coming from the muffler clanking when it was cooling down, but then there is also a mechanical nature to it too which is not explained by thermal effects on the muffler.

I am starting to think it is a stuck valve or broken exhaust valve actuator

I had my car in last week for the rattle/clank I was experiencing, that had since evolved in to a squeak during start/stop functionality, and at engine shutdown after parking. Techs were stumped until they really got underneath the car and determined the drivers side exhaust flap actuator bearing was going out. They offered to replace the whole exhaust (?!), lube the bearing/flap/whatever, or just unplug the actuator all together. First and last options both somewhat absurd, especially when I've since determined the actuator seems to be a replaceable part - 222-906-75-03 for $262. I'll prob just get a FI-Exhaust.
