AMG GTS Lithium Ion baterry. What's so big secret.
Does anyone can provide some information's about the battery on GTS AMG? Is pretty amazing that even after I Google it I found nothing. For example when do I have to charge the battery? If I'm not driving it for a week or maybe for three weeks. No Info not even in the Owners Manual. It looks like a big secret from MB. Under what conditions you have to charge or keep the battery charged?
I will love to hear some opinion from people who bought the car already and what their representative told them.

Lithium batteries last up to ten years and need little maintenance. They hold charge for up to a year when left alone. I have been using after market lithium batteries on my MB cars for a while and never had any problems.

So if I don't drive the car for one month you telling me the battery will be ok without being plug in?

The salesman at our local Mercedes-Benz dealership told me that if the car is not used for a few weeks it should be hooked up to a trickle charger which is included with the car. He showed me the trickle charger in the trunk.

Can you share which battery you used. Can you fit it on a normal car not meant to have a lithium battery.

So... does a 2016 AMG GTS have a lithium battery? I was told there are 2 batteries in the car - the lithium (to start the car) and a regular one (with a charge point in the trunk) to run everything else.
Any info?

I spoke to my friend (who is a MB service tech) this afternoon and he advised that there are in fact TWO batteries in the AMG GTS! The lithium up front which is primarily for starting the vehicle... and a standard AGM in the rear called the "consumer" battery.
The charger that plugs in the rear is a standard, non lithium charger. He advised that the lithium battery in the engine compartment does not need a battery maintainer.
So would that mean that we would need TWO chargers for the vehicle?
Does this information sound accurate?

My GT-S Li battery went flat because I didn't drive it for several weeks and the car would not start. I measured the voltage across the terminals of the lithium battery under the hood and it was extremely low, much lower than you would ever see on a lead-acid battery. So I plugged the supplied charger into the lighter socket in the trunk and left it for a few days and car started fine. Now anytime I am not driving the car for a week or more, I just plug in the small charger in the trunk. My wife's 2015 GLK has a "consumer" small battery in the compartment under the floor board beside the spare tire in the back, which I saw when I wired in a trailer hitch harness, and I was really curious about this small battery and its function. I have not seen a wiring diagram for a modern MB so I don't know how the main and small "consumer" battery are connected. But there can only be one 12V circuit in the car I would imagine.
