How does the oem ed1 work with non ed1 cars? These cars have retractable rear decklids. The only non oem spoiler I remember is the brabus for non ED1 cars.
And a few more detail pictures of what I was talking about:
The location of the up down limit switches on the motor assembly. The down switch is the right one in the picture and when depressed it is conducting.
A close up of one of down switch (conducting when the wing is down)
And the up switch (conducting when the wing is up)
And a close up of the connectors. The up switch pin is shorting to GND when up and open (e.g. NOT conducting) when the wing is down. The other middle pin does the opposite.
Frankly this is a really simple but error prone design. Over time these switches will become intermittent (wear) and the wing mechanism is probably going to throw errors. Since the switches are part of the motor mechanism, MB will replace the whole thing for big buck while all you have to do is replace the switches. Just beware.
I will follow up with a little cheater circuit that truly allows you to remove the whole active wing without recoding (2 hrs. of work, $240 when the dealer agrees to do it). They will even suggest to replace the ECU in the mirror patch for $300 bucks such that you don't have the wing switch any longer. Of course, this is silly and there is no reason other than aesthetics.
Interesting timing for posting that. I just finished making the electronic spoiler delete. It uses OEM MB plugs and takes 2 mins to install. No splicing or damaging your oem hardware or harness. It's completely reversible and avoids all error codes that occur when you switch to a fixed wing setup.
Yeah that is the way to go. The circuit solution is fairly straightforward. Hope you sell a lot! Saves a lot of time and hassle. I will not put my active wing back. I love the ed1 wing.
Has anyone settled on a non-DIY solution for installing a fixed wing on the GT-S? Seems like the options discussed above all would work but I would imagine there is some sort of a tried and true process to make this change?

Get the electronic spoiler delete from ronac, pick whatever wing ya want, remove yours and in about an hour or so you are done, it works! PS. I am in no way affiliated with ronac nor do I get any kickbacks

Got mine from here, I am in the tech space and get things manufactured in China so I knew of this company that makes parts for a lot of the aftermarket companies, way cheaper than buying from the company that bought it from them. It only took 10 days to arrive.

Have not painted the base yet, my car has the exterior carbon package and is pretty dark so it actually fits, i plan on wrapping it soon so may wrap the base.
