Am I completly stupid for wanting to DD a GTS in heavy LA traffic?

My commute consists of about a 1hr drive each way in heavy LA freeway traffic. Im also thinking about buying a GTS. I'm not a fan of garage queen cars, so most likely i would use the GTS as my DD.

Is this a horribly stupid idea?

Would love to hear any experiences or opinions from current owners

Thanks!

Not a waste if you will also enjoy it on your non work days

It's your money do with it what you want ... You can't take it with you to the grave

To be more clear, Im more interested in any opinions on how the car would perform as a DD? Yes I wish I lived on a track and all I did was race my car all day and night, but real life requires me to goto work M-F

SLS is super cool, but way too wide and nose long for a DD IMO. I had alot of trouble driving it and seeing where the edges of the car were Thats what i'm afraid of with the GTS... ?

I personally would hate anything other than a traditional torque converter and trans slush box for bumper to bumper traffic

I don't think the dct is that smooth in b2b traffic

I don't think it's crazy.

I got rid of my 997.2 GT3 and replaced it with the GTS because it's a better cruiser.

Nothing wrong with a GTS for a DD. You still would have the weekends to have more fun with it. Go for it!

I DD the car .. 17 minutes each way with traffic 30 mins or so
Loving every minute of it ! makes the drive to work... let's say enjoyable ! Let's say I drive my cars ! grabbing a coffee at the drive thru is always an event.

Had a 12 SLS roadster... loved the sls but was a little more difficult to drive in traffic and the nose made it a little harder to navigate in tight quarters.. two different cars !

Interesting feedback to hear that SLS is different when it comes to visibility.
I thought they were about the same when it comes to having a long hood and seeing what is happening up front.

I'm beginning to notice your posts here and else where tend to be a bit negative regarding the GT-S.
Why?

Depending on your physical size and body type, it's a little hard to get in and out of. Other than that, DD in LA traffic wouldn't be a big deal.I think the trans works will in traffic situations.

He has no perspective, never owned either (I don't lie Hyperion do I?) he just speaks from what he likes or opinion without basis. He has been like that for years yet really loves bubble gum blue HRE wheels. I guess that puts things into perspective

Hard for me to concider any high end sports car as a DD, I live in Chicago so I roll with the weather Rain & cold the M3 & Snow & Ice the Escalade EXT. But any nice sunny day and it's the AMG GTs all day. And all I know is I thought the M3 was a bad *** car (and it is) but the GTs make it seam like a dog!

I love my GTs I think you can't go wrong for a DD especally in CA. that is if you have a safe spot to park it ....

Hi Vicwhere ya been?
Whats up man! What brings you over to the 4.0 TT side?

I'm around just not posting heavily as much.

For the OP (I sent you a PM as you know):

I find the GTS to be a good DD even in traffic-- the throttle is quick and the lane changes in mid speed traffic comes very easily. If one is in bumper to bumper all the time then it doesn't matter what car you in as every car is going that speed. But in LA even with heavier congestion there are times of nice open pockets for the rocket to step out. The car is durable and isn't "fragile" like a Ferrari or a Lambo; you can rip it hard and often and put miles on it too. This is my opinion as an owner
