Can ECU reflash disable transmission auto Park 'feature'?

I've read many instances of the transmission shifting into Park if door is opened while in motion. Seems like to really, really dumb 'feature' to me.

Many mechanics do this as they drive into lifts or back into tight spots, just habits.

Can ECU reflash from companies like Renntech and Weistec disable this dumb feature?

This is not dumb at all IMHO and is an absolute must.
For the rare case you mention, put the car back in drive and it will cooperate.

Weistec can do it. They can also change the default on MB/AMG cars with Eco mode to default to off rather than defaulting to on as it is set from the factory.

While I do agree that it's a safety feature, I think there are other ways to stop the vehicle without damaging the tranny (apply parking brakes and Neutral?)

I just know first hand many mechanics are used to opening the door as they pull into the lift.

Good to know, thanks. I assume this instantly voids the warranty right?

This has been discussed many times on this forum. In a nutshell, it will depend on what is failing and your relationship with your dealer and your SA.
It really should not void any non engine/transmission related claims especially if the dealer knows nothing about your tune.

Any ECU mod has the potential to void the warranty but it must be proved that it was the sole cause of any failure.

Some companies have warranty for 2 years. I think eurocharged does.
