Maybe there are 530 911 cars for sale but there are many 911 models. Whereas 300 cars for one specific model, AMG GT? Well ratio wise that is NOT good.

While I agree both manufacturers have issues to settle over certain product models, "Facts are just facts." Mercedes Benz as a manufacturer is rated at an all time low of Number#20.

And no I will not be buying a KIA nor a HYUNDAI anytime soon, but CERTAINLY NOT buying an AMG GT due to obvious reasons. I still LOVE my current AMG.

I did a quick search on Autotrader for 2016. There are over 530 911 for sale and over 300 AMG GT for sale - Does this mean that people do not want to buy 911s? Of course not - all these raw numbers and statistics are meaningless.

I still don't have my GTC but have owned P and MB - both had minor issues. MB service was far better and in my experience MB's reliability was better even though CR has Porsche as No. 2 on their "list"

All your posts in this forum. What gives you any credibility?? Besides your C class.

Let's define how much time you've spent in a AMG GT ??

Check out today's news:
"TORONTO, March 1, 2017 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network are pleased to announce that the company achieved its best-ever February results, retailing a total of 3,964 units and surpassing by 16.6% the previous record set in February 2016. This impressive return contributed to year-to-date sales of 7,716 units, an increase of 22.0% over 2016. These results continued to build on the company's steady momentum." [my emphasis]

It would appear that MB must be doing something right after all...

My sense is that MB is loading the market with their new entry level GT and the remaining number of 2017 GTS are normal new inventory.

Supply chain and customer demand should normalize over that next couple of months.

GTR-- Rumor has it that the initial US GTR launch will be in late April-May and Canada will be in August. No news on the Europe or Asia markets yet.
GT

GT R will be released in Canada in May 2017 as well. According to the Canadian DOG, "Start of regular production: April 2017; Expected Sales Release: May 2017."

Then the GT43 will be introduced and that will change things again.

I was just adding some insight to a question.

Unfortunately MB/AMG quality has been declining and even the hand built GT cars from AMG have been riddled with issues. This is not my opinion it's just the facts. Some choose to ignore this and keep drinking the kool aid. This is exactly what they like to see from their customers

As far as cars for sale, it's ludicrous to campare the 911 to the GT. Porsche has been building the great 911 for 50 years. The GT has only been out for a few years.

TD33 - you have opinions and that is just fine.
As far as facts are concerned, MB just rose to top 5 in JD powers latest census
http://www.jdpower.com/press-release...dability-study
The GTR obliterated the P cars on the ring except for the million dollar hyper car so you are right we should not compare 2 door sports cars which compete for the same dollars...
By the way, pretty sad that a $250K huracan humiliated the 918 as well.

It's not my opinion about the problems with the GT cars. They're well documented. Your fully aware of this.

Also, I can care less about track times. I don't buy my cars for the track. I drive on public roads. If I wanted a track car I would buy the new Camero ZL1 for far less than half the cost.

The GTR will be a great track car if that's your thing for almost 200k. As far as a street car, It will never be a good DD.

BTW that 918 is selling for 600k over msrp. I don't think most owners care about anything AMG makes or track times.

This may shock some because the people who are dissappointed with the GTS are REALLY disappointed but I enjoy my ED1 very much with zero issues. I might just consider a white 17 to replace it LOL-- its only money and I have a buyer on the 16 willing to give me a nice offer.

Afterall, I just do a simple tune and I have a 130 mph trapper than turns and handles. Oh mine doesnt burn oil- isnt that weird

What is documented are problems with Edition 1s. Most of them were minor and that is the price you pay when you take the risk of a brand new model.
A ZL1 is not track car (Z28 is) and the GT-R is in the $170K range. Again check your facts...
If money is your consideration, then a 918 was a bad investment compared to a P1 or a Laferrari.
What's next?

Minor problems that resulted in several buybacks. Come on stop drinking the kool aid.

ZL1----z28 you get my point.

When you put CCB on the GTR and after taxes you will be approaching 200k. My apologies, I should have been more specific.

As far as a bad investment. I would invest 900+k to get a 600k profit the next
day every day of the week.

Try trading your GT and let me know how much profit you make

2016 AMG GTS
GTS

I am a former 911 owner - have several 1950/60's collector cars including a 246 Ferrari Dino, Alfa SS, and several coachbuilt Abarths. I just got the GTS from MB of Manhattan. In Indianapolis it is like a UFO. The car is amazing. I almost pulled the trigger on a Mclaren 650S - but planning on daily driving the GTS so much more stealthy (and my wife gave a thumbs up to it versus the Mclaren)

Found this news release from MB sales USA for past 2 months.
Look at that, sales of the AMG GT are down -20% YTD.
Surprising considering they added more models and that AMG sales in total are up.

Wow, big downer !!
Maybe GT's will be exclusive after all.

Big downer? Thanks for your deep analysis...

To me, sales fluctuations in low volume cars are not meaningful one way or the other. These are not the cars AMG makes money on anyways. Most of the money is made on the lower-end models.

I have had my ED1 for a year and a half now and aside from a breakdown of the CF transfer shaft, it has been fantastic. I have intake, downpipes, aftermarket CCBs, Eurocharged upgraded turbos and ECU and TCU flashes. The car is an absolute blast to drive.

The suspension on the car is stiff, so some rattle is unavoidable. If you can't live with it, get yourself a sedan.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I have had my ed 1 since May 2015 and still love it. It had the front end clunk that was fully repaired and a cam position sensor needed replacement. That is it . When I drive it have to wear a disguise so forum members that have never owned or driven one do not recognize and ridicule me for my poor choice of cars. It is nearly two years old and no longer worth what I paid for it. I am sooo ashamed. My Bentley GT has only lost 80k in three years and my 911s only 51k in two years. But gee, if I had a %$&@ 918, I would make money. I keep making the same mistake over and over. Two weeks ago I bought a Genesis G80 limited and I lost money as soon as i drove it off the lot. I guess i just have more money than brains. To make things even worse, cars costing 50k more have better 0 to 60 times.

I wear a special disguise as well. I don't want anyone to know what a bad choice I have made. Other people's opinions of me are crucial to my well-being - especially in my choice of cars. I hope no one turns me in to the thought police or choice police.

Very cool.

Down low very happy with torque, up top not so much so. Care to give us a better understanding on top end?

The GT S - A Great Car In Automotive La La Land

I have 12K miles on our Ed 1 (new 8/15) and while there have been some understandable design and first generation issues, the car is a blast to own and drive. Our order for a GT C has just been entered into NetStar awaiting a P.O. allocation so I'm committed to the brand. We're a couple that buys cars way above our (combined) pay grade. Our other car is a Porsche 911 Turbo S, so the GT S is parked next to a benchmark. Like the comment from the GT3 and GT S owner, I love both cars and, when driving one, never wish I were driving the other. I did laps in a 911 GT3 at Exotics Cars racing and drove a GT S at the AMG Performance Driving Academy at Laguna Seca. Both are great cars. In Car & Driver's Lightning Lap testing, the GT S was actually a bit faster than a 911 Turbo S. I'm amazed at the stability of the rear-drive GT S in fast corners. Randy Pobst jumped out of the GT S during the PCOTY event where the GT S won and said the GT S is a car that he would really like to own, which is rare. I have received a crazy amount of thumbs-up, "great car" comments, kids taking videos (if I'm nearby, I start and rev the car) - drivers young and old, Bentleys and S-Classes to track-ready imports and Jeeps, etc. - everybody loves the car. The issues I had were all successfully taken care of under warranty and have likely been designed out of newer builds: rear hatch rattle, crossmember squeak when going over uneven surfaces and aluminum exhaust bracket break resulting in vibration - and I'm careful about avoiding obstacles and I haven't tracked the car. Design issues: too bad the visor designers didn't talk to the A-pillar people; driver seat travel could be a bit longer, and I'd move the seat memory buttons - but - so what, I love the car. Great accomplishment and the brand has certainly come a long way since I bought my first M-B, an '81 240D 4-speed with 67 HP! (Hmmm. Long post. Sorry.)
