Are many people dissatisfied with their AMG GTS?
I ask because the car is really a pretty radical sports car with the small cabin, aggressive exhaust and dual clutch transmission. I wonder if many of the buyers are not really aware of what they are getting. (An auto executive friend says he thinks AMG just set out to make the most "bad ***" car they could).
It also seems like a disproportionate number have been bought back by Mercedes. I may have a distorted view since it seems they have sent most of them to the West Palm Highline Auction where I have seen five sold. I wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes will fairly easily buy one back from a dissatisfied loyal MB customer.
I picked up one of the buybacks to drive and resell. I tell the callers to make sure they have driven one and that they should be aware the DCT does not operate like a normal automatic. I just had one guy pass and thank me for making him aware of the DCT.

"Many People" is hard to quantify. There are certainly quite a few buybacks and issues going around the forums. Personally, I've had several warranty items that needed fixing with more that I haven't taken the car in for yet.
The way I see it...
#1.) The current GTS has a super hard suspension, even in comfort mode
#2.) It is pretty loud even in quite mode
#3.) It has had quite a few teething issues
#4.) It is still relatively new and rare
#5.) It isn't a luxury car. It makes too many compromises to be one. (Smell, view, comfort, rattles, creakes, sound.
I think the above points have resulted in multiple reasons for the car to see a lot of turnover. I think the happy owners are the ones who wanted an uncompromising sports car from their favorite AMG tuners. Everyone who thinks this is a hardtop SL is probably dissappointed.

If you don't want a full sports car, consider the C63s Coupe. That thing is surely a riot, and is as close to a GTs with backseats as you'll see for a while.

Sentiment is always the same. You hear all the negatives and very few of the positives. So make up your mind for yourself and drive the car. If there's a problem that's what the warranty is for ....if the warranty doesn't work well there are options.
My car is like a vault. Yeah it's a little stiff, but it runs hard and cracks thru gears in sport plus which is very satisfying......

GT-S is just a phenomenal car. I can't understand why there is endless whining on this site about the car. I have owned and still own multiple sports cars, and the GT-S is just great in every way. Every time I fire it up, and press the go pedal, it puts a smile on my face, it sounds just phenomenal, and each day I drive it on the race track, I just feel it is one of the great sports cars. I spoke to Randy Pobst at the SEMA show for 1/2 hour last November, and he agreed per his review in Motor Trend when they gave it the Best Driver's Car of the year award that it is one of the best.
It would be fantastic if people should just stop all their wondering about the car and rather enjoy it for the treat it is. It is a fabulous piece of automotive engineering.

I will second what AMG17GT and descartesfool stated.
My GT is everything I wished for and then some.
Just like any new products (and it is a big one for AMG), the early adopters paid the price of admission with first year production issues.
If you are in the market for mid 100s GT sports car, the AMG should be on your radar with the 911GT3 or GTS, Aston V8 vantage or Jag F-SVR, . You can't go wrong with any of them and it's just a matter of what rocks your boat.

I am sure some people are dissatisfied with their 911 / 911 GT3 as well .... We don't see people complain, if no problem from their cars ... Thus we are here to see diff problems on these AMG products.
Again, no problem car, or next to no problem? Get a Lexus, I never have any problem / issue with Lexus in ~ 20 year, but do I smile when I drive one? That is a diff topic...

Bad news travels so much better than good news.... Of course you will read threads on issues and those issues are compounded by frustration (not discounting them) but it just leads to long threads that then turn into attacks. These threads then remain at the top of the page while the good positive ones about getting the car, posting pics about the car, bragging about the car, tuning the car, and achieving incredible performance etc gets pushed down at times.
My car has seen service once- for an alignment which I asked for due to lowering it. Its been tuned since under 200 miles and I rip the f'in car. I'm 100% happy with my car and after 10 AMG's can say its the best one Ive had yet. With that being said I have no doubt there have been issues with the car on its first run and there will continue to issues as engineering is a very touchy thing.

My Ed 1 is 20 months old and I have zero complaints. I pound it on a regular basis and it does not disappoint or break. I have owned many performance cars and none do it all, nor do I expect them to. The turbo s is wicked and thrives on a good beating but sounds like a Hoover. The Bentley GT is a joy to drive but not to push too hard in the corners. The 08 Z06 always tries to kill you when you hit 2nd and the Q5, well it is my favorite ride of all as it is the nicest driving car I have ever owned. An R8 + is on the way and I stay away from the exotic Italians, especially my first wife. My former GT3 once left me stranded as 8 qts. of Mobil One poured from it blown engine. This was not on the track but on the exit ramp of an airport parking garage. Cars are made to enjoy or to provide utility. The GTS comes close as it can carry two bags of golf clubs. Cars are a buffet, try a little of everthing.

2022 AMG SL63
One year completed and nothing but smiles. Every day, the car feels great and continues to be a monster - yet tame. Still plenty of thumbs ups. It's an unusual car and tons of fun when you want it. Somewhat tame at other times.

I do not know if dissatisfied describes my experience, but I was not happy with it (too many gremlins, wind noise, rattles and using a lot of oil in my opinion) and someone here wanted it really bad. So I sold it before I took a hit because the market being flooded, and I am glad I did.

Have both the GT S and a 2015 Porsche GT3; very different cars, but I love both of them. would characterize the GT S as a touring car you can track, and the GT3 as a track car you can drive on the street. Surprisingly the GT S is a little more isolated and actually a little more difficult to drive, but it is a pleasure to use as my daily driver. Would not want to use the GT3 that way.

bought my ED1 used last year with 1,700mi on the clock and she's about 8k now. love every second behind the wheel.
only complaint would be the windshield and how prone it is to rock chips. i'm on windshield #3 now.

Great car!
I've owned my E-1 for nearly two years. It's a great car and faster with the tune installed. I'm amazed at how fast it is. Ran the 1/4 mile and trapped 129 and change.
When I first purchased it, it had that loud popping noise which the dealer took care of on their first try. Since then, it hasn't been to the dealer except for the "A" service.
I'm coming up on 7k miles

I was thinking of using Kleeman because my local Mercedes dealer will support it. I know there is also Brabus and Rennsport, but they say Rennsport gives check engine lights. Will put on Michelin Cup2 and probably need more agressive pads for the track. wish there was a way to put on at least a 4 point harness.

Yesterday was one year of ownership for me. At 10,100 miles. The only problem I've had with the car is the t in the biturbo fell off. It's had Eurocharged tune and downpipes since ~1000 mile mark.

Same with Kumizi, I am at 5k miles and never had any issues with it. I have Eurocharged TUNE and downpipes. Couldn't be more happier. Race a lot of cars with it. To check it out go to my Instagram @dat1racingchannel.

the new grille does distinguish it more from the common mercedes badge, they should start putting the affalterbach logo instead of the star and see what happens!
