6.2 vs 4.0
Hi guys, i love my current amg so far, i have clocked about 6700km in one year. The area i live in have alot of last gen's c63. I know it sounds ironic but that car indeed is my dream car. The sound OHH THE SOUND and aggressive styling on the car is out of this world. M3 and RS5 were no where near last gen's c63. especially when the 507 edition came out... that was epic. what do you guys think of the 6.2 comparing to the 4.0? and who dig last gen's c63 more then this gen's?

I had a 2009 C63 and the sound was epic especially with catless downpipes.
The current 4.0 will not be as amazing but with secondary cats delete, it still rumbles and is far better than the competition.
I would take a coupe C63 over the 6.2 model anyday. A simple tune and you are in the 600hp club.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
I had 63 SL and drove it in the wildest mountain roads anywhere. It was perfect. I have driven 3 different 4.0 engines. They dont have the response or torque. The spec says they do, but the feel says the 63 was superior
I have the 5.5 biturbo now and it isnt as good either

I have owned or own 2 6.2's (2010 E63 and still have the 2012 C63BS) and now 2 4.0's (GTS and C63S coupe)--- the sound in the 6.2 is slightly more pronounced but its not overwhelmingly better. The 4.0 clear delivers a great growl and the software which allows the overruns is an added plus. The 4.0's also out perform the 6.3 all day long in short romps and longer term measurments. And to emericr's point, a tune ends the game vs my two much weaker tunes on the 6.2's (of course since N/A). Ive dyno'd all these cars and the tq curve is flatter and taller on the 4.0's as well; and with a tune the response is basically like a NA car.

The 6.2 motor was more baritone and the 4.0 With the 2nd catalyst removed, is more bass. But the cracks on sport-plus 4.0 shifts are priceless. DCT augments engine as well.
I believe peak torque is all there at around 1700 vs 5200 ironically on the big bore 6.2. So on the street and short blasts 4.0 is way more responsive.
Maybe my imagination, but some days the 6.2 felt strong and others not so great. Think it had to do with brand of gas used.
Finally, good riddance. That headbolt issue was getting to be a daily concern.

i love the popping too hahahah, but i dig the lower rpm sound of the 6.2 NA, with a secondary delete, its so loud yet a low growl.. also when it shifts it sounds like thunder strike

Indeed it does, most mags are running 120.xx to 123.xx traps in the quarter stock. And the MCT is so much better via pedal response than before.

Well part of that is the DCT and its efficiencies--- the MCT is bit of a power robber so to speak; thats why tunes really help with that tranny along with software.

I had a c63 507 coupe. Amazing engine with bad transmission meant that when you put your foot down sometimes it took off like a rocket and sometimes not so much, but that engine in the upper revs was addictive.
