Hydro locked motor due to heavy rain

I feel for the guy...
I had the exact same situation a few years back with our then 2-3 months old SL.
Engine hydro-locked and the bill even for a non-AMG was over $70k for the repair. These cars are great pushing a wake and a dip in the road did it.
The car was below the percentage of being totaled but they totaled it anyways since they wouldn't guarantee that upcoming electrical issues would be covered under the same claim.
Non-AMG yet no spare engine in the US nor in Germany (all avail. engines were committed to production) so it would have to be built special order.
Wait would have been 3 months.
This is what will happen to him unless he can get it totaled...

Bow wave
Ouch! Sorry man. The water may not look that deep but the vehicle movement through the water creates a bow wave higher than the water level. The water gets sucked into the intake manifold instead of air and the engine seizes. A sometimes problem for BMW owner's. Don't chance it.
