Question Stock HP/TRQ #'s

What can I expect the motor in a stock GT C to really be delivering?

Are you saying these engines are not underrated? Even the m278 in my 550 is 20hp over its advertised 450hp...torque is also understated. Renntech checked stock #'s for their baseline.

All the AMG GT series HP numbers are underrated. Not sure why. Maybe because they are hand built you cannot get precise numbers so they underrate to be conservative and avoid lawsuits.

This car is full of mysteries and surprises. Car and Driver tested a stock GTS at 0-60 3.0 seconds flat all day. Which would put the GTR probably around 2.7 or so. Which means an ECU tuned GT or GTS is around 2.6.

That's what I figured. Have you any data on qm trap speeds?

While I agree MB underrates the power on the GT-XX cars, the flat 3 second from C&D is an extrapolation at sea level. Even tuned, you will lucky to get close to that magic 3.0s number. 2.XX is dreamland.
If you don't believe me, line up against a Tesla P100D or 911TT with race start and see how bad from the start you get beat and catching up is way after 80mph if at all depending which model you are racing.

Car & Driver does not extrapolate. They state their numbers as they are measured, and they got 3.0 seconds with a 11.2 1/4 mile. Here is the review:

Thanks for the link. 127 mph trap speed is within 911 Turbo S territory...I'm guessing the GT C is putting out close to 600hp.

I believe an accurate estimate is 30-50 hp underrated on these cars.

Thanks.

Sounds about right. Someone in Europe must have dyno'd one of these by now.
