Z06 tires

I just bought a 2018 GTR, it does not have the optional badass Z06 tires. I'm a track rat (been racing Viper's for the last few years).
The optional hardcore compound on the Cup's are about 1" difference in diameter from the standard tires. If I switch to the Z06 tires, will the car freak out on the track? Does anyone know if on the cars optioned with the Z06 tires, is the software any different?
The "normal" Cup 2's are sized:
275-35-19 front (26.6")
325-30-20 rear (27.7")

The optional hardcore compound tires that the Benz stole from the Z06:
285-30-19 front (25.7")
335-20-20 rear (26.6")

Again, does anyone know if there are software changes on the cars that get the Z06 tires? I want to switch to them, but cannot have any stability/traction/abs issues on the track.
Thanks!

Since these are the optional R03 tyres, there should be no difference in ‘software’ calibration between the standard tyre and optional one. After all in those areas of the World where R03 is permitted, owners would be expected to switch back and forth when the weather changes, so I can’t imagine that MB would be expecting the owner to constantly have a software change every time the tyres are switched.

The R03 option are just the regular Cup 2's. My car has the R03 option and it's just the 325/275 Cup 2's, not the Z06 sizes/compounds.
You can see that on the dealer ordering info here too- https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...g-gt-r-gtr.pdf
If my Cup 2's are also optional, what was the standard tire?
Here's an interesting article about the Z06 tires- https://www.caranddriver.com/news/if...corvette-tires
When you build a GTR on MBusa.com there are no optional tires whatsoever.

Car and Driver published an article stating the GTR came with the TPC Spec Cup 2's but in actuality they do not.

Having said that those tires should fit stock GTR rims no problem.

Yeah I'm not worried about them fitting the wheels, they will, I'm worried about it causing traction control/ABS issues on the track. They are 1" shorter in diameter which is a lot

Ah I see, I would think not. After all they were on the Car and Driver test car and they didn't seem to mention any issue.

I've gone 10mm wider tires front and back on a couple cars I've tracked and didn't experience any traction control issues. Mind you it's not a GTR, but same principle I would assume.

So in the DOG, the R03 option is for the larger, optional MPSC2 ZP (Z06) tyres. The standard tyre on the car worldwide is the MPSC2 non-ZP tyre.

Unfortunately the ZP tyres are only allowed to be sold in certain countries by MB, so even if R03 was selected on a US GTR and mine was, it will not come so equipped.

Yeah but the tires were installed on the car from the factory, so may have different programming. that's what I'm asking

Thanks! great info! Do you think I can swap these on with no traction control issues?

Cool man, I'll be taking the car to https://www.indemotorsports.com/ once it's broken in. I don't even have the car yet, will be picking it up tomorrow!

Yeah, I think that the ABS issue has more to do with the difference in revolutions (Front:Rear). So as long as you stay within the threshold you should be fine. Now the different rear diameter can play havoc with your shift points. On my M5, I was running a drag radial that was 1.5" taller than the stock tire. Transmission did not like that, it would randomly not shift and for fun kick in stability control from time to time.

I thought the ZP tyres were 335/25 not 335/20?

You are correct.

Here are larger other tyres that fit the GTR, although I’d never ruin it by putting the Continentals on it:

I have z06 spec Cup2s on my GT R now. Did not have any TC or ABS problem, however I found just leave 1 click GTR TC and stability control off feels the best.
