Rock pierced GTS radiator and it's shooting coolant! Bought it a month ago!
My new baby has been injured! It's not only leaking, but it's shooting out of the front of the car from the radiator! I'm bringing it to the shop tomorrow, but has anyone had an experience like this?
There’s a thread about the radiator grilles that you can buy from the Mercedes dealership and can be factory installed. This is of course doesn’t solve your current problem. It;s an issue not unheard of because there isn’t screen protection in front of the radiators. Let us know how things go. Your insurance may need to get involved....don’t know whether this will be covered under warranty.
No, I've heard of two on the passenger side, where it's trans fluid If I recall correctly. Doesn't look big and obvious. Something small and sharp must have hit it just right unfortunately.
I had an incident where pea gravel got stuck in and slung up around the crankshaft and actually wedged into the pulley and caused the front/outermost belt to shred. Thus, losing power steering and A/C. Yes - weird stuff does happen.
And this is the reason that cars like ours with exposed side radiators need to have high quality OEM ‘screens’ installed at the factory ala the GT cars from Porsche.
Always my biggest worry about being on track with the GT R. I’ve bought some black screen material myself a couple of months ago, but am waiting to see if MB actually do have a decent retro fit product for the GT R as we’ve been led to believe. Currently my local dealer state they don’t know what I’m talking about when I bring it up though!
