I'm really whacked now. Drove 110 miles home from vegas car was fine. Came home from the gym this morning. Well... there you go. So much for my trip to Monterey next Sunday. Even if it does get fixed. I have ZERO confidence in this car now. Most likely they'll probably replace the PDK I'd think. Maybe something in it is causing the valve body to shell and not work. What's next!
DAmnnn!!! Thats the thing with all these modern cars going over the top electronic. Every little thing is a sensor, a digital display, a current, a graphic. A lot of the new benzes and audis are having so many computer problems because nothing syncs or flows or communicates. A simple combo of tech and analog is a nice balance... I would feel the same way you do...
I considered that. But then what? Car is out of production. I have extra money/time in this car I know I wouldn't get reimbursed for. So I'd lose anyways. Can't get another one with the spec like that. My hunch is there is something defective about the PDK causing the valve body to shell. I'm pretty sure a replacement PDK is the fix and the dealer does as well. Tow truck is on it's way. Thank God - so I don't have to look at this thing in my garage all weekend. Not too happy about if they have to drop the engine and transmission on such a new car. Never the same as first done at the factory. If the car had 6 months or so and a few thousands miles. I'd probably be okay. Had it less than 24 hours and it broke. Got it fixed and had it less than 24 hours and it broke again. I'm sure it will get sorted. It's not the dealers fault. They sent the codes to Germany and Porsche told them what to do. I will be lobbying Porsche for a couple more years additional warranty on this car. I will be driving my 2019 Huracan to Monterey. Has almost 4k miles and has been perfect. I have the Lamborghini factory race exhaust on it and it's just plain nuts.
With less than 48 hours total in the car I can’t imagine you would be that attached to it.
Time to cut your losses and move on.
sorry to hear about the car. But it’s time to turn the story into one without so much heartbreak

At this point. I've ordered thousands of dollars in parts from Suncoast, tools from Precision, miscellaneous other things and paid to have the car transported. Tipped the driver $300, tipped the tow truck driver and will do so again today. Time/expense (220 mile round trip) going down to pick up the car and everything else. I'd never see the light of day on my expenses/time and trouble. Best thing is to get it fixed. I'm sure a new PDK will solve it. Accordingly, I'll push to get an additional two years of warranty. Here I was going to go to Zion National Park today in the RS. Instead, I'm sitting here waiting for a tow all day. At least if I get this thing out of my garage today. I won't have to look at it. Okay car is gone for the second time. Three strikes and you're out.
Sorry to hear about this. I'm glad I didn't go with a Porsche. Do not hear great things about them in terms of reliability.
Did you guys see the New Zealand guy's YouTube channel (can't remember his name) - he lemoned 2 911s!
My own experience with a 2009 Boxster (which I bought new) was OK, but it was not nearly as reliable as my C63.

Agreed Surge. A lot of manufacturers like to use the buzz word: "bulletproof" to describe their cars nowadays for marketing purposes. I've had 7 AMG's and never had any sort of major issue. All minor and definitely nothing like this. Not trying to bring up race (no pun intended) but look at the color of the car - perhaps it is a lemon.
I have to think that this particular PDK has an issue that normally a replacement valve body takes care of; unfortunately, not in your case. That being said, a new PDK gearbox, (which is what I would demand at this point), is simply a plug-and-play item for this car and you should be good to go for many years. I have not heard of any major issues on Rennlist showing up in the 991.2 GT cars; they seem solid so far. A push for some form of 'compensation' from Porsche USA wouldn't be out of line though. lol
Went to Zions today in the Huracan. It was flawless and didn't miss a beat. It's only an hours drive from my house. Love it up there. Here is a quick pic. No paranoia and glancing down at the gauges waiting/looking for an error message. Most of us have been there before with our cars.
UPDATE: Dealer called end of day yesterday. It was different codes this time although it was the same error message. Faults pointed to a different issue in the new valve body. Dealer sent the codes to Porsche AG. They responded with a list of things to check in the wiring for a possible loose/intermittent connection and/or ground fault. Based on the test results we'll see what they say next. Hoping to hear back today.

Damn what is it with you and the wiring issues?
Because we’re friends I’ll take it off your hands as is. Just sign the title and stick i in the glove box and I’ll send a truck to get it out of your garage right away.
SERIOUSLY, I feel your pain and hope they have the solution in hand and you’ll be back on the road very soon.

Yeah - lol. Me and electrical issues. I might need a new nickname something like short circuit.
UPDATE: Dealer just called. All the tests and pin connections were good. Looks like at this point according to them will be a PDK replacement. None in the US. It will have to come from Germany. Takes 5 business days at least if it doesn't get hung up in customs. So at least a couple weeks until the car is done is what I'm thinking. Will have 100% confirmation on that direction from the dealer tomorrow. If it plays out that way then I'll have had the car for almost a month and drove it less than 4 hours. Okay I'm going to go and sulk now.

From the time the PDK is delivered I bet it will be longer than 48 hours before you’re driving the RS. Thrash on the Lambo and drink plenty of Tanquery and tonics; just not at the same time, and all will be well whilst you wait! lol
UPDATE: Car is done and new PDK installed. They will do a triple check tomorrow (parameters, fluids) after another test drive cool down this evening. Should be good tomorrow and they will call me in the AM with the green light. I'm confident it's fixed this time. ECU was ruled out as PAG had a specific pin and short to ground test the car passed. So PDK has to be the culprit. Feels weird like I don't really have an RS because it has been gone for so long between both repairs. I've literally had it collectively in my garage for less than 48 hours and have driven it for only 4 hours. With 2 of those 4 hours driving it home from Vegas after the first repair which was the valve body replacement. Will post some pics from Zions where I plan to take it this weekend. It's only an hours drive from my house.
