Just to add a few details. As of today there are 23 cars showing in dealer inventories, all of them with that same third week of Jan production date. I doubt that they will make all those cars in one week so it's probably more of an initial date and it will get rearranged a bit down the line. There are 5 in CA, 1 in CO, 5 in FL, 2 in GA, 1 in IL, 1 in MA, 1 in NJ, 2 in NV, 2 in NY, 2 in OH, 1 in OK, and one more in a top secret location.
Obviously more allocations are coming but this appears to be the initial batch. I don't know if the P One allocations show into the system the same way, so these might include P One customers or they might have a completely different ordering process.
Interestingly enough all of the above builds but a couple include the lane keep assist package. That surprises me because having tracked the GTR that whole thing is super intrusive and over aggressive in braking for you. It's either an indication that very few people plan to track this car and are simply clicking every option, or that the system defaults to including that RPO and folks will remove it once they refine their builds. Btw, the system did change existing builds when they entered dealer inventory, for example almost all cars are showing either magma or blue, so if you are one of the peeps that has one of these cars you will have to reconfigure them to make sure you get exactly what you want ... I'm sure your dealer will tell you this anyway.
Exciting to finally see someone movement on this car. Also surprised at the early build date, although you never know with these things, they might wake up tomorrow and all of them are showing a September 2027 build date.

No pricing yet but I’m sure that’s imminent.

I’m betting we do see a rerun of our GTR delivery's at the VPC. The Feds aren’t going to just let this car be delivered to the dealer/customers without an extended wrestling match (read months) over the mpg and how much gas guzzler tax they should get.
if I recall correctly we went 7 months after arrival at the VPC with our GTR’s.
If delivery is delayed past Feb 2021 these cars will have to be be titled as 2022 models according to US law.
STAY TUNED.

What a poop show that was. I actually got my 'launch' GTR because the customer got tired of waiting since April and backed out in August, so I only had to wait about six weeks for my car. And even then I had to pull some strings to get one of the few active splitter thingies because when the feds released the car MB put a stop sale on it for the defect.Originally Posted by JSwan724

Then the same thing happened with the Panameras and other cars around that time. But my understanding was that that process has improved quite a bit. You rarely hear any more about cars being stuck for months, including all the 992, Ferraris, McL, etc. Hopefully that trend will continue ... it would be a shame to have these cars sitting unloved in port for months on end.
Anyway, today is a good day for those lucky enough to get one of the first allocations ... let's stay positive for a few hours.

Is graphite grey magno a paint option in the US? I was surprised to see it’s not available in Canada although Jupiter red and Hyacinth red are.
Junior Member
ScrappyB- just curious that you seem to have different paint options than I have to pick from. I do not see either Hyacinth Red or Jupiter Red as an option in Canada for a Black Series. The paint options that I have does show a designo Selenite Grey magno that I could choose.

Hmm pretty interesting ...
When the 2RS started showing up in dealer inventories rennlist was abuzz with excitement and comments.
The BS allocations show up in earnest for the first time and it barely registers here.
Maybe it's because not as many folks are anticipating getting an allocation as the 2RS, but the lack of reaction at the news is still somewhat surprising, especially given the amazing performance this car has already demonstrated.

At the dealer level it seems there has been lots of interest. My dealer was telling me that they have been inundated with requests to buy a Black Series.

Going to be the same as the GTR Roadster. Mercedes is going to dump most of them with high volume dealers. Bet we will have 80 sitting collecting dust here soon.

There seems to be a relative lack of enthusiasm towards new models across all the automotive forums. Even conversations about the 992 GT3 seem surprisingly sparse. Is it because the models have become more predictable? Changes too incremental? New car fatigue? Covid impacts? Whatever it is, forum traffic seems much less this year. Curious whether this is a harbinger of actual demand in the market.Originally Posted by soulsea

FWIW: Road and Track just published an article on the Black today.
Here’s a quote from the article about US pricing;
“That’s the kind of transformation we’re talking about with the circa-$420k (but TBA) Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series,”
They also allude to a recent Ring time that “they are pleased with......”

Just heard from the cleaning lady at MB USA, no one knows for sure but the whispers in the building are saying base msrp slightly south of $350k.Originally Posted by JSwan724

Now that pricing would be reasonable.

In Canada the price has not been confirmed exactly but I have been shown that the base msrp is between $350-400 Cdn. With this range I would think the US price should be under $350.

Sorry guys but at $450-$500 k CDN this car is not worth double the cost of the GTR. Told my dealer that I will need more time before I commit to the GT BS until I get the final MSRP...they are also not limiting the production of the GT BS like they did with the previous series. Not a fan of the huge rear wing on the car as well.Originally Posted by Gtrblack

With that said rest of the detailed changes on the car look great and the motor at 720 HP looks to be an awesome power plant...

I expect it to be about $400k CAD based on its competitors.Originally Posted by spyderman

McLaren 765LT - $400k CAD
Pista - $415k CAD
The GT2 RS was $334k but the Weissach pack was $20k so essentially $354k. I do expect the AMG will cost more however you’ll be getting ‘more’ in terms of bespoke bodywork in CF and components. It will also be significantly rarer than a GT2 RS.
I understand your perspective on it not being a limited edition and therefore making it hard to justify a price above $450k. Looking at it another way, a high MSRP will inherently limit demand since short term speculators will have minimal (or no) upside. The result is fewer cars that should naturally support long term value retention.

McLaren made 500 each 675LT coupes and spiders. What are those worth? I disagree.Originally Posted by ScrappyB

Anything "special" being introduced today is yesterday's news tomorrow and is quickly replaced by something even better.
Also, the lack of opportunity to experience even 50% of these cars capability, strictly enforced laws, with most of them stashed away in airconditioned garage or occasionally driven (very slow, very carefully) to C&C or an upscale restaurant.
Driving them in normal traffic, following minivans and trucks like lemmings because you have only half the road available for cars (the other half is for occasional bicycle) and impossible to pass, boy racer looks that honestly look pathetic in normal traffic, all of that contributes to that fatigue.
IMO, these times modern supercars since they are driven like any subcompact on the road, became irrelevant, all you have left to enjoy is the styling while your 800+ HP is academic fact that can not be experienced (very, very few owners live in proximity to a track where you can exercise your hot car and the wing on the back does not look ridiculous).
I have never thought that before but now in my opinion you would have more fun and satisfaction driving a vintage supercar that has to be driven at 80-90% just to keep up with commuter cars on the freeway.
You can finally interact with your analog car which does not do everything for you, including even the drifting (which required some skills you had to learn) that now is done by the car itself (new Ferrari V8s).
I am really starting to rethink the purchase of that BS , I am not a speculator and nearest track is still too far to do it regularly.
In normal traffic you are perceived as a ricer, only with more money then the typical kid in his souped Honda Civic.
Sorry for my rant, feel free to disagree, the above is only my personal opinion.

Exactly, becomes bragging rights. None of these plus 500 hp cars can be utilized on the street. Yes I can hit 150 plus on some farm roads, for 10-15 seconds lol.

Must be interesting to live the virtuous life when one only purchases things that only go to the limits that they can make full use of.
Cars that need not go one mile per hour more than they'll ever drive, homes that have not one extra square foot more than used, watches that are only waterproof to the depth of the shower tray or bathtub if you're an adventurer, actually no watch at all cause of phone, and obviously only eat the exact nutritional amounts to survive and wear different thickness potato sacks depending on ambient temp.
Thankfully we need that wing for the picnics.
