Anything I should know. New Battery install. GTS
The car is completely dead, no power no dash lights nothing. Advanced Auto has a replacement battery for $220 I’ll pick up today. Just wondering if there is any procedure or system I should follow dropping the new one in. And also, is there an auxiliary/consumer battery on this car that may need replacing? 2016 Amg Gts
Thanks,
I just replaced my battery under warranty for a GTS
The battery on a GTS is a lithium ion battery so its quite expensive was around $1700
make sure its correct @ $220 not sure it is correct battery
I understand I am sacrificing li-ion battery weight lbs for my wallets sake but I was just looking for anything else I need to look for after first fire. I’ve read some things about having to reset computer/system or something of that nature. Anyone else has had to disconnect and reconnect battery with any issues?
Thanks,
Thanks for the recommend. I currently do not own a Li- charger and since the battery has been fully depleted, I’m figuring it’s rendered useless. Or there’s a fail safe level. I’ll have more reading to do on that one. I have seen the Ctek Li- chargers on-line for about $100.

I ended up at Costco, they just started carrying a nice AGM battery. And Costco, their policy bring it back anytime if you have a problem 3,5,10 years doesn’t matter. Threw it in car fired right up but now have check engine light and malfunction light on in center cluster. I’ll have to see what those are all about.
the car circuit protects this type of battery when it’s voltage goes belies about 11.5 volts and will shut off the car and make you think the battery is dead. Jump the car and let it idle for 10 minutes.
since you changed to a new battery and now have a check engine light, if you still have your MB OEM try reinstalling it and using the above procedure. You mind find there is nothing wrong with it once it’s instructed by the car to wake back up.
apparently there is a back log order to obtain an orinal opne from the dealear , I have been wating for 10 weeks and still no ETA

The bolt holding down the battery is a bit tricky to get to, but with a wrench socket extender makes it pretty easy.
hope this helps for anyone with same issues.

Driving the AMG GTS and the car sputtered then cut off power steering, automatically went into neutral, and showed a million faults on the dash. I turned the car off and sat the there, turned it back on, everything was fine then it all happened again. Mercedes dealership says the starter battery ($2,400) is dead, but the car starts over and over no problem. They say the battery is on back order with no ETA on when it will be in. I’m assuming it’s the other battery ($700) that’s supposed to run everything else but they say it’s not. Anyone familiar with this scenario and know of a place where I can get another Li Ion battery of they are right?
see the link below.
the 60Ah one works just fine and has enough power to start the car. I just left the extra connector off no issues or fault codes. Probably put 200 miles on the car since the battery change

As far as getting one from somewhere else that a dealer for replacement, Advance Auto Parts sells AGM batteries that should work. But you will probably need to reprogram the car to the new battery, I can swear someone posted about this where he took his car to a auto parts store installed the battery and they were able to code it right there.
Its worth a shot, beats not being able to use the car because Benz is out on a trip blowing bubbles in the park and wondering why the bubbles are popping.
I've had an AGM battery in my 2017 GT-S for just over a year, but the car was throwing error codes which lead to the annoying error message attached below.
I worked with @BenzNinja to code out the car looking for the OEM Lithium-ion battery and after many long and spirited drives I can also vouch for that also being a viable option!
Now that I know the Antigravity works, I'll consider that as a "nice-to-have" upgrade for the future 😏
Error message due to the car looking for the OEM Lithium-ion battery

there is another small AGM auxiliary battery in the trunk, not important for any major operations though.
