Renntech tune with catless downpipes ANYONE???
I had Renntech tuned on my GT , Now i am planning to upgrade my downpipes . I knew Renntech not recommended catless and im worried the engine light will on
Does anyone running Renntech with Catless ?
please help

As far as I am aware, you will get a CEL, unless you get a tune that can specifically turn it off.

At some point you will get a check engine light, not always immediate. But system will have codes for o2 readiness monitors not working, etc, etc.
You simply have the tuner take the CE Light coding out for catalyst issues.

Are there no annual ‘smog’ inspections for vehicles in CA? If not, I’m really surprised. Regardless, if you remove the primary cats, there is surely no way to pass an inspection I’m assuming? I ask, because I simply don’t know. I do believe the secondary cats can safely be removed and the car still pass ‘inspection’.

There are no annual smog tests for cars manufactured in the last half dozen years or so.

Interesting. I thought perhaps that any vehicle over three years old might have to pass emissions control annually.

I live in Lake Las Vegas NV and so far I have had no luck finding someone to replace my secondary cats. Been to 4 shops and no go. Finally found a guy who customizes cars out of his home who is willing to do it. Most shops I know in Los Angeles do it without any question.

If your car is less than five years old there are no smog inspections in CA. After that there are biannual smog checks.
