Darwin Pro spoiler for 2018 GTS question

I’m looking for a Carbon fiber spoiler for my 2018 GTS.

I saw some cheaper wings on alibaba from Jsk autoracing.

will the Darwin Pro work / fit on the 2018 gts? What is the quality of the carbon weave? Will it match my OEM carbon fiber?
Does the wing need to be clear coated prior to install?

is there good fit on the base so that I won’t get water in the cabin ?

thanks in advance

It will fit as long as it is not the Convertible, I have the JSK version and it fits perfectly as well, you just have to add a few holes if needed, and either way you need to get the wing motor delete, search for that in the forums.

I heard the JSK version is even easier to install. Just replace the original spoiler with the new base. Install four screws and put in the spoiler delete module and you’re done.

was the cost really under $1k. The Darwin pro is around $3.5k

I paid less than $800 including shipping, but that was before Covid, it is more now as they have to ship air, but you will get it faster, and yes it was only 4 or 6 screws, I found out the hard way as I looked at videos for other installs and took the whole assembly apart, then realized I did not have too, also make sure you seal it so water does not get in.

As of now it is not hooked up, I am gonna see if I can connect it to the brake light at the top of the hatch, just need to open up the panel again and take a look, may do that this weekend to see what I need.

Has anyone uncovered a version that is made the convertible? It seems like unless youre willing to pay $5K for the OEM GTR version, there is no alternative for the Roadster.

I have the DP wing, and the fit and finish is top notch, that is already UV Cleared, and the weave matches other carbon bits on the car. That said, I wish I had known about the Jsk wing when I was sourcing parts, as I'd have absolutely gone that route to save the $2,500.

As far as sealing goes, mine came with a fresh seal, which was handy.

I'd also like to know what people have done with the light. I've been looking at different spoiler options and leaning toward the JSK. Darwin is nice but from the pics I've seen the JSK looks like it sits a little lower which I prefer. My only hesitation now is what to do with the light.

Great thanks. I'm itching to order one of these. I figure worst case scenario if I don't like the light I can have a shop fill it in and repaint the base.

just be aware. I believe the JSK racing doesn’t have a base plate. You have to deal with removing the original plate and putting it on the spoiler .

Did you decide on a spoiler yet? JSK has a few different spoilers but it looks like the GTR version comes with the base. This is the version I am looking at: http://www.jskracing.com/product_vie...id=508&id=4985

I just got in contact with someone over there so I'll double check.

That one is perfect. What’s the price on that? Is the base paintable?

I have not gotten a quote yet but they guy in another thread said he paid $570. He painted the base and also filled in the light: https://mbworld.org/forums/coupe-roa...spoiler-2.html

It sounds like JSK offers multiple options for the weave. Anyone know what weave would match OEM carbon fiber?

For those with a Roadster looking for options and coming to the conclusion that there are none, here is the list of OEM parts from the GTR Roadster set up:

What is the approximate cost of getting all the parts required to fit an OEM GTR wing onto a GTC coupe? With all the parts required, this looks like quite the undertaking and costly.

This Darwin solution is really the same as the OEM solution in terms of complexity but less expensive for that route. From an OEM price point, my guess is that you can likely source the parts for slightly less cost, but will still set you back $3000 ish. People sell the complete kit online for $5500 but they are really hoping you are lazy and wont go and do what I did to surface parts, quantities etc.

All of the part numbers above are for a Roadster - which has a different factory wing base size/shape - also, the wing has a built in brake light because the Roadster doesn't have a hard glass window with the brake light mount.
