Which tune is more reliable? I’ve heard of issues with some tunes which has deterred me from tuning. But I want the extra power and crackles and actually see how much a difference a tube can make on my base 17 GT.

I would have gotten so much shade from the Moderators for a response like that.

Both are reliable. Eurocharge gives you a little more HP and torque. It is cheaper and the owner is a member on this forum and often gives discounts and is responsive.

Renntech used to be offered at AMG performance service centers.

id choose Eurocharged. YMMV.

I think both are decent - I went with RENNtech (for my GTC) because of the hassle factor. In setting up Eurocharge you will want to also get the mygenius HHT to swap it from stock to tuned; especially if you have warranty life remaining. , That said, because the mygenius is universal, you have to do a bunch of up front stuff to make it work. It's not crazy complicated, but compared to supplying the VIN to RT and having an HHT in a box at your door in a couple of days, it seems like more work. R/T also gives free updates if you end up needing any factory S/W update that changes the original ECM file and Im not sure if EC would charge (didnt look that deeply).

Here is a sample video of setting up a tune via mygenius (this one is for VRTune, so how files are transferred from Eurocharge for the new file will vary):

FWIW, your GT is detuned big time and either will wake it up!

Took me about 5 minutes to plug the handheld from Eurocharged into the car to download the file, and a day to get the tuned file back. With the specials they run here, I got the tune and handheld for half the price of the Renntech tune.

Quick question for anyone with the Renntech HHT
Does the Renntech tune improve the exhaust noice for the GTR. More pops etc?

Marginally - they don't focus on retarding the timing though.... I love the sound like the next guy but retarding the ignition timing so the fuel/air mix ignites later in the engine’s cycle would lean towards less power gain. Timing it correctly, the exhaust valve will be opening to allow gas to escape into the exhaust and create the pops and bangs but it's a balancing act between sound and power. The only real way to get this done well while keeping max power would be to get rid of the cats.

I think we get close with taking out the secondaries and having the valve kit done. Going catless has its own tradeoffs but power and sound arent on that list.

You could probably get one of the tuners to get you a "burble tune" if you spoke to them personally and maybe paid a little more. That's apparently becoming a big thing watching youtube videos of other tuned cars. Maybe there will be demand for it considering all the new owners are complaining about pops and bangs being gone.

I think I remember Eurocharged offering this by request when I got my tune.

I already have the valve module by renntech. It's louder than stock. Sounds pretty good. Does anyone have the valve module and secondary Cat delete at the same time? Would cat delete make any more difference if you have the valve 100% open?

If you listen to my cold start video that should tell you what it will sound like - the cutting out if the microphone crapping out from the peak noise. That cold start is RENNtech tune, secondary delete and valves 100% open.

I bought the Eurocharged tune last year when they had a black Friday sale and just tuned this weekend and holy Sh*t its nice... no errors, drives great, throttle response it better, and power is amazing. They claim about +110hp, +170tq over a stock GTS, based on their Dyno sheets.

If anyone has any questions or wants a hookup let me know! We are typically a ton cheaper that RT and make more powaaa (we also have our own engine protection warranty!)
