GT (S/C/R) compared to Ferrari 458 / 488

Do anyone have a photo comparing the above mentioned?

Do Ferraris “look” a lot lower compared to AMG?

A fellow Ferrari owner friend insisted his Ferrari look like a true exotic where he think GT series are just another sport car..

love to hear your thoughts,

Thank you for your kind responds. Cheers.

I don't have them side by side cause I sold my GTR a while back, but here's a few pics on the same spot in almost the same color.

Ferrari does look more exotic, but the GTR has a lot of presence ... I don't remember the GTR sitting much higher than the 458, it does have more legroom though, and the seating position of the seat itself is lower inside the car.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Your photos just proved me wrong.. indeed the Ferrari look much more exotic than the GTR with the later looks much taller than the Ferrari.

Cheers! 🍻

The GT platform looks larger/taller when compared to some other exotics (viper, R8, huracan, 570s, 458/488). That said, I'm sure that your friend's idea of an exotic revolves around the perception that it needs to be mid engine to fit the bill.

Designo Diamond White Metallic, no stealth.

Love that color, it's got this pearlescent slightly matte effect under some lighting conditions.

It was the same on the old man wagon:

I have a sls gulwing and a 458. The 458 definately sits way lower, I feel like I'm on the ground in the 458. The SLS gt and amg gt are like the name says a GT car so they aren't designed to look like a supercar.

If the looks is what it takes to qualify as exotic then the C8 I have on order has them all beat.

By the way every time I stop at a traffic light in this or a parking lot there's always someone with his phone out taking pictures to the point that I am getting paranoid now.

Nice ..

I did a quick check.. the C8 is only around an inch lower and is narrower than the AMG.

I know that, and you know that, but it doesn't matter when it doesn't look like a mid engined car, and the look is usually the reasoning behind those folks saying it's not an exotic.

I think an inch 'lower' might be a miss characterization. I'd hazard to guess that the cabin in a GT is an inch taller and ground clearance isn't that much different at all (if that is what you were thinking). Being a taller driver (6'4") the cabin in the GT is MUCH easier to sit in than any Corvette cabin that I have sat in. The two 'exotics' that are most friendly in this area are the GT and 911 platform (which many would argue don't qualify for the label of exotic or supercar).

Seems like the more exotic, the more wedge shaped the car needs to be (and to @Orcbolg point, the placement of the engine. The 458 isn't bad with the CF seats; Daytona seats make me feel like a circus bear riding a tricycle though...Lambo's and the R8 forgettaboutit.

Well, I think it’s a very subjective opinion. Some of my Ferrari owner friends believed only v12s are true Ferrari(s). It’ll only become an endless debate, pretty pointless. If you like your car(s) and really enjoy driving them, that’s what it matters the most.
