In conclusion, get Renntech, open the valves 100% and leave it alone 😆.

BTW I was able to link the Renntech remote to the homelink buttons, it makes everything so simple so use.

Ha! For you it sounds like a perfit fit. For me, The RENNTech EVM fits me like OJ's glove.

Well all that above is true about CETE. As for the sound it is noticeably more pleasing.
On to the downpipes and tune next, soon.

which downpipes and tune are you going with? Planning on doing that as well. Leaning towards Renntech but not sure about the premium price tag compared to others.

I love Renntechs products as I have used them before on older SL600 and then CL65. Yes they are pricey but I think worth it in the long run. Have been looking at Weistec pipes but will probably go with Renntech.

I personally don't think it's worthwhile, and especially so after finding out how they rip off their customers with the rebranded ASR EVM module at double the price, and then attempting to keep those of us in North America from being able to purchase it from ASR.

After driving the car some more last night I will probably leave the downpipes and tune for a later date. Honestly the car is plenty fast for me as it sits right now and the sound its making is a pleasure to listen to.
I just got the case of "new car must modify" bug LOL but the car is damn good just the way it is, I wont track it or dont plan to and am so pleased with it.

For me it's more about the OCD of having to override the systems in the car. To me, the CETE is an elegant integration that keeps the factory operation largely intact and it's the same price as the ASR module - the car certainly sounds like how it should have sounded from the factory post installation.

I have to wonder if the 'emotional start' in the newer cars that triggers the valves to open if the CETE acknowledges that command - it would be REALLY emotional then!

Completely agree. Downpipes are downpipes. One company’s bends and/or welds aren’t going to produce 30 more horsepower over another company’s. Find the cheapest set of downpipes on the market then get a tune from any reputable company, which will likely charge half of what Renntech charges. You’ll have the same power, equal reliability, and have saved yourself several thousand dollars.

Cete fitted yesterday and love it, exactly what i wanted, no extra buttons on fobs etc, total control with one button, it remembers last setting up to an hour after stopping anyway but if longer than that and I want 100% open on ‘warm’ start up, then i just press starter without pressing brake pedal, press exhaust button, then start car et voila! Fully open start up, i’m not that bothered though tbh and mostly prefer a discreet start up, bit nauseating some of the comments on here re loud start up.

Your module must be special as mine doesn’t remember nothing after ignition off, not even a second. Fully goes back to C mode every time. Having said that it’s not a bother to do the double press and then to I mode and as you say et voilla Boom crackle crackle is music to my ears.

It’s definitely a different model to the earlier cars (or maybe just software) as they did have to ask when ordering if mine was the earlier model (mine is the later 2018) as the unit was different for later cars.

also there was a fuse proviso in the packaging that i didnt need to use, again, because it was a later car i’d imagine, ive only tested it to 1 hr after operation and 24hrs later, the former remembers setting but it could be longer than 1 hr, i’ll see..

My mistake I didn’t realize you’re model was a 2018. That is great that it remembers setting after ignition off.

I have a late model 2018 as well. It doesn't remember any setting from the car's previous run outside of the "I" programmed config, but that too needs to be reselected on any new drive. Cete seems to have a very simple purpose that doesn't re-program thee driver settings to memory (It doesn't claim this either).

I'm pretty sure that saving the drive settings would be a function of the command system, not the valves level of openness. Anyone else with a CETE module that has drive settings now being saved?

i did say (but got shut down) that before the installation, my car remembers the last setting used for at least an hour, ive never timed it to see if its longer, actually, its 2 hours since i returned from washing car so i’ll go out and test now.

Thats over 2hrs actually and it started in exactly the same settings as i left it in, but i had a thought, i rarely lock my car, even when out localy as i live in a zero crime area, maybe this effects things?

The car starts in 'C' with exhaust off and the auto start/stop engaged - that's the factory default setting. In my car (I have the same MY as you) every time the car turned off and the drivers door is opened (where everything turns off) it resets the drivers setting back to "C" (and the other settings that I described). One of the minor inconveniences I find is not being able to have a default setting be configured for startup and go. I didn't think it was configurable.

Anyone else chime in on how this is achieved?

exactly, and the cete module is obviously in line with this behaviour

its not until the next day that mine reverts to std. ‘C’ mode set up.

heres a thought, although mine is a 2018MY car it is the older interior so one of the very first GTCs made, is it possible that the software of these first cars was different?

the GTC was intended as a GTR ‘light’ version wich had many of the GTRs extras as std. maybe the early GTCs have the GTR software?

do the GTRs settings (of the same era) remain unchanged after turning off for a period of time I wander?

I know my US early 2018 spec GTC Roadster didn't save the previous settings even 2 seconds after turning off and back on. The 2020 GTR doesn't either

Explained! This exert is taken from the European manual in regards to the Dynamic select, right at the bottom it explains the 4hr window

Available drive programs: C Comfort Comfort-oriented, engine and transmission settings optimised for economy S Sport Sporty engine and transmission settings S+ Sport Plus Especially sporty engine and transmission settings RACE (AMG GT C Roadster) Maximum sportiness and engine and transmission settings suitable for the racetrack I Individual Personalised settings In urban traffic and stop-start traffic, drive program C is recommended.
Depending on the drive program selected, the following vehicle characteristics will change:
  • the drive (engine management)
  • the transmission management
  • ESP® more
  • the suspension more
  • the position of the exhaust flap more
  • the availability of the ECO start /stop function more
  • the availability of glide mode more

Further information for automatic drive program characteristics more.

Additionally, in drive program I you can configure the respective vehicle characteristics via the multimedia system. You can find information about this in the Digital Owner's Manual

If the ignition is switched off for less than four hours, the last drive program selected is activated when the engine is next started. If the ignition is switched off for more than four hours, drive program C is activated when the engine is next started.
