tire pressure- amg gt

just put a new set of mich pilot sport 4s on my '17 amg gt. the fuel flap says 31 ft and 32 rears for under 150mph. dealer returned the car with 40 ft 41 rears, had to return 2 days later for a part and again asked for a corrected pressure....35 & 37.
31/32 seems sort of low but you'd think the fuel flap is supposed to be correct. just my daily driver, no track. what are you running? appreciate your input.

There has been a lot of discussion here on this topic. I recommend searching the forum. I run at 29psi cold for the street on PS4Ss for the street per Bishman and other posters. It gives a much better ride than the higher pressures. Target 32psi hot on track.

The fuel door gives accurate recommended pressure of 31/32. However many people prefer a slightly lower pressure and feel the car behaves better at 28/29 or something thereabouts. Just experiment and see what you think. It really is more of a comfort thing and depends a lot in my opinion on the roads you drive regularly.

Higher pressure will firm up the ride but also improve steering feedback and directional stability. On the street, to an average driver, and talking about 4-5psi difference, you won't notice. I usually set mine a couple pounds above spec in any car, but more as a preventative to them not dropping 2-3psi and being low enough to trigger the TPMS light. The fuel filler door will always have the "best option" pressures IMO. The drivers door card can be weird depending on the loading the car is rated for.

will running tires a little below the 31/32 recommendation cut into tire life?

Don't think so. Tire life isn't much to begin with in my experience.

At 29psi pressure the sidewalls are loose. The reason why most guys go with this low pressure is because the factory coil is a stiff diving board.

Having softer Renntech springs, my cold psi is 34, and it feels plush.
