I've got a 2019 GTC. Had it about three weeks and want to change the outside temp readings from celsius to fahrenheit. My car came from Canada into the US and that's the problem. This cannot be found in the owner's manual and can't done in the vehicle settings. That has been confirmed repeatedly.
What does it take to get this changed? I've read all the threads out there and can see it was done in other cars but I didn't see examples of it being done in the GTC.
I just got back from the dealer and they could not do it. They had about 5 guys trying to figure it out but no luck. There are no in car settings to be changed by owner/operator....I've been there and tried all that. I think this needs a Xentry scanner or something similar. They could have re-flashed the system but they couldn't tell me what kind of problems that would cause and whether or not it would even work.
Has anyone done this successfully on a GTC? Can you also tell me if I will be able to connect to Mercedes Me Connect? Dealer activated it but am not seeing it yet on my phone. I've read various things saying it may not work due to being from Canada.
It is done through the settings in the command center.
Is the command center like an engineering screen? The dealer was in there and there was nothing for celsius to fahrenheit. Just to be clear this is not something that is accessible in the vehicle settings.
As far as I know this requires changing the region of the car, which as far as I understand cannot be done by a dealership. Only Mercedes has this ability. I also doubt that you'll get Mercedes Me to work in the USA as long as the car is set to the Canada region. The end user can only change the distance units between km and miles, but none of the other units such as temperatures and pressures. They are hardcoded to the dominant units of measure for the region the car was sold to. I inquired about this with MBUSA, because I want to change it from Fahrenheit to Celsius. Fahrenheit is stupid and doesn't compute for me. I grew up in Europe and learned the metric system. Zero being freezing point and 100 the boiling point makes a ton more sense than Fahrenheit. In my Audis I was able to change all the units of measure to my desired units, but I find it idiotic that Mercedes only allows the distance units to be configured. It's the one thing that somewhat irks me about the Mercedes COMAND system. Everything else is better, so I just learned to live with temps being shown in Fahrenheit. Consider it an opportunity to learn proper units of measure that the rest of the world uses .

Have you changed it from kmh-mph? Maybe look in the trip consumption settings! Very odd this can’t be changed over easily
It cannot be done in the car. The importer changed the speedo from kmh to mph. The dealer can't even (or is not allowed to) do it with their scan tool.
If there is no solution, I suggest you start using the infinitely better Celsius unit! Can't be too hard to remember at all. 0 degrees is freezing, 100 is boiling, and ~20 is room temperature.

DAS system can be purchased online for about 900 bucks.
Where are you in California? I've seen that Benzninga offers some coding services but am a little hesitant to let anyone I don't know log in to my computer and car.
My dealer used the Xentry (or whatever tool they use) to try and change it from celsius to fahrenheit They told me they could select and make the change but when exiting it automatically reverted back to celsius.

Im in Livermore - I have a few friends well connected at MB - going to see if they have a back door channel to some coding as well.
If you can ask them about the temp change and what it takes to do it. I've been told only Mercedes can make the change happen and not the dealer. Not sure how that would happen. Talked to a dealer service manager in a shop close to the border and he claimed the same thing that they could make the change but it reverts back to the region of the car. He also told me the only people that could change were the importers who bring the cars across the border. They said they can only change the speedo.
The GM at the dealership I went to has a tuned 2019 GTC. Says its 700 hp. He has countless videos blowing the doors off of Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, and just about anything else you can think of. The most interesting to me was the apples to apples comparison of him racing a stock 2019 GTC. Really left him in the dust.
Still no resolution on this. Mercedes Canada and Mercedes USA say it cannot be done but I'm just talking to their customer service and they only know so much.
might want to talk to someone like MBhouse.ca to see if they can do it.
MBHouse sounds like they know what they are doing....If only I were near Toronto. They can't do anything over the phone. Still looking but the few I've talked to don''t have the tools.
