2020 AMG GT Stereo
Looking at purchasing a 2020 AMG GT from a dealer that is about 300 miles away. I haven't test drove it yet but it appears the stereo is the base model. I couldn't find a lot of specs online about the base unit. I currently have the Burmester in my AMG 43 and it sounds great. Does anyone know how the base stereo sounds in the 2020? And how successful anyone has been with aftermarket upgrades? I called a local stereo installer and they say they can do it but can't give me details until they see the car. Any specifics you can provide would be great. Any replies ASAP would be appreciated before I commit to buying the car.

The 2020 AMG GT roadster doesn't come with the Burmester as a standard. The base Burmester is a $1300 option and the high-end 3D Burmester is not available as an option.
I actually don't know what they have in there. HK?
Hard to vouch for the sound quality. The base Burmester is decent enough for a noisy roadster and sounds better than the Burmester we had in the E63s or the Burmester abomination in our 2020 GLE

I can give some additional perspective - I have the high end BM option and a convertible.
For a convertible and the sound it creates with the top down, it is nothing short of exceptional. I had a 991 911 Turbo S convertible that I didn't option with Burmeister - ultimately I went all out with the stereo with very high end aftermarket equipment, and while spending the better part of 12K US, I only came close to what the high end stock GTC option provided. The option, if available, is worth much more than what they charge if you want the sound.

If you only listen to the engine, you shouldn’t care about the stereo.

The base stereo in the GT should still be a Burmester. I’ve heard both and the upgraded High End (with the metal speaker grills) is a HUGE improvement. It’s not that the std Burmester is bad, it’s just not great. I believe in Europe and other markets there is a lower end non-Burmester as well...

The 2020 GT base model has a simple 4 speaker 100Watt audio system. It's not a Burmester. The Base Burmester is a $1300 option on the GT model (10 speaker 640W surround sound).
The 3D Burmester is not available on the GT models.
The GTC models have the base Burmester system as a default audio option. The 3D Burmester is a $4500 option (11 speaker 1000W surround sound).
I frankly can't imagine how a 100W system with 4 speakers will sound...
