GT 53, GTC driver leg room question

I am considering the purchase of a GT or GTC. I am away from the US at this time & most likely
will not return until Feb/March so I have not had a chance to visit a dealership to actually
get into and sit in a vehicle. I can not find any information concerning the drivers
leg room in these vehicles. (same for GT 53 ) I am 6'5" or 1.98 meters in height. Legs longer
than torso.
Question if there is any GT 2 & 4 door owner in this forum with same of close to it height that can
give me there experience concerning the legroom (driver side) issue. I have looked at
quite a few reviews of the GT 53, (considering as a option ), and it seems the front doors are
pretty short, so the (legs entry especially) is smaller than the GT coupe or roadster. I have called
a couple of MB dealerships and they have no info on driver legroom measurements with the GT models.
I usually have a body shop move the seat rail back for me, but with the 2 door the trunk wall behind
the seats pretty much will rule that out. With the 53 that should I suspect be no problem, so the actually
entry is that biggest Q with the GT 53
Thanks for any info.

I would check out the "Sedan" portion of the GT section and ask the same question. The site separates the 2 different platforms. You will have better luck over there getting the feedback that you want.

Acapulco - I am 6'5" (195 lbs.) long legs too. Fit is my biggest concern in any car I've owned all the way back to 16 yrs old. Most cars are a struggle for me, and of course, you and I adapt to certain conditions.

With the AMG GT, I "glove fit", seat all the way down and almost all the way back. It is comfortable. Like many other cars, there is no room for any adjustments. I mentioned almost all the way back BC in the coupe, the seat back hits before the seat makes it all the way back. So, there is a little sacrifice in the back adjustment and I need to sit a little more upright than I prefer, but still OK. For a low stance car, there is plenty of headroom. With these seating settings I can see most of the speedometer. I sometimes cannot catch the front parking sensors and need to crouch for that, but all the idiosyncrasies you get used to driving any car at 6'5".

Worst car I could NOT fit in and even attempt to drive - any C7 Corvette. I fit in the C6 and the C8 (had a C8 on order); the best most comfortable fit - my Bentley Continental GT. I actually did not have the seat all the way back, but a couple inches short of that.

Hope this helps.

Yes this does help. At least I can get a idea concerning the fit issue. You pretty much have the exact same issues I do.
Weird how the Bentley keeps coming up as I review the GT series. I never really considered the Bentley when l decided
to look at the level of performance. Ferrari for a minute, but sort of have them out of my mind at this point. I have had quite
a few Porsches over the years but really would like a change from Porsche. The new 911/992 is pretty roomy but still
a Porsche in the end. Thanks for the help. Sure I will have more questions as I proceed and will pass them on.
Good time of the year to be in Arizona, enjoy.

It makes no sense to me to compare the two either - aside from the fact they are both high end cars, the experience is vastly different. I've had both; including the juiced up Supersports GT - both are cool cars but not for the same reasons....and even though the Bentley was a Rocketship, it got boring really fast...and keeping it longer term and paying for the upkeep. Not a chance for me!

Im 6'4" and see most of the same issues described as well. And, I know what you mean about Porsche - there is just something missing from the experience after you have had it for a while (Ive had 3 911s). They are friendly to tall drivers though. Once you get past 6'2" and don't want to feel like a circus bear riding a tricycle, your options do become limited. R8s and Lambos...nope. Ferrari surprisingly has a lot of room but 458s are demanding top dollar for what they are compared to the GTC. Pound for pound it'll be hard to find something like the GTC that does everything as well as the GTC for the money. Suffice to say though, the GTC will work from the size perspective.

As you have said the GT is definitely the preferred vehicle. I have had a lot of Mercs over the
years. (diesel & gasoline. Never any issues, beyond basic wear items so I have much
confidence in the Mercedes product lines.
My preference is definitely the GTC, I have been researching the GT sedan as a plan B but
with the above responses, it seems my space concerns may be a little over blown.
Like you said, after 6'2" options do become limited. I would spec the GTC to my liking,
and plan on keeping it for a while so your & others input has been most helpful.
Thanks

As much as I like the Pano roof opening cockpit, I believe it takes away an inch or so of headroom if that becomes an issue, especially with helmets.
