Custom wheels

Hi,

I have a 2018 GT convertible base. Looking for wheels with lip or convexity to replace the originals. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I’m selling these in about a week. But are you looking for something like this?

The p101s are the best looking ones along with the klassen ID wheels https://www.klassenid.com/wheel-collection/monoblock/ are the nicest looking wheels in my opinion for these cars.

Keep forgeline in mind also. I like the part where you can get the factory logo machined in.
very reasonable price. Contact Gerry at custom wheels for less, great prices.

Forgeline ga1r satin black, stock sizes

Those aren't concave AT ALL! LOL!

I'd also recommend HRE, ask for the aggressive concavity

Assuming you mean Concavity, not the reverse. Everyone so far seems to be pointing you to HRE P101s... not sure of your budget but expect to pay $12K for a set of HREs. And, the P101 has been copied a LOT - knock offs that would be identical (99% the design) are a fraction of the cost. Depending on your budget, there are a lot of great designers out there to choose from. HRE is one but high cost. Just below that in terms of cost, but maintaining quality would be an AG Luxury, Vossen or Klassen (owned by AG) - expect to pay $6Kish (upwards to $8K). Then of equal quality but sell direct and not exclusively through distribution are Signature Wheel - those are about the $5K range. These are all typically 1 piece or 3 piece and forged built to order. Downward from there you start to get into flowform or cast wheels and those are anywhere from $2K to $3K - they are pre-cast and are typically in stock or just a couple of days waiting, but they tend to fit just slightly better than an OEM wheel with conservative offsets.

If you can find a design you like, Signature is probably the best bang for your buck. Short of that, I would land somewhere with AG or Klassen. Vossen designs have been shaking up the market for the last couple of years as they develop out there forged line, but when you get into their good stuff, you are talking just shy of HRE pricing.

There is not a lot of concavity to be gained on these cars - in fact, pretty much none in the front if you want to clear that giant brake caliper. If you want to maximize it you are going to want to stick with a fully forged wheel or at least a 2 piece with hidden hardware. Although, a 2 piece wheel is going to be MUCH heavier.

Finally, if you decide you want that lip look, you will need a 3 piece - you will only get that look in the back - the front doesn't have enough offset to give you a lip at all.

Good luck!

PS - I started with a 3 piece set of AGs and ultimately moved to a monobloc Signature set up.

actually they are concave but the angle in which I shot them, it doesn’t look like it. It’s just a bad angle for that, but yes they do have some.

Litespeed Racing out of California offers custom made magnesium wheels for a reasonable price. https://www.litespeedracing.com/

Forgeline makes a really good wheel.

HRE wheels are fine but you're basically paying double for marketing and so you can tell others you have HREs. (nothing wrong with that)

Anyone have a non-HRE recommendation for something bronze in the style of HRE rs103’s?

not many options like that - I looked at Klassen, AG, ADV1 but there is something close with Signature: https://www.signaturewheel.com/product-page/sv105

Thanks for finding, have had a similar experience! Might have to hold out for a used set, I don't love the bowed spoke look. I did find these on the Klassen website which I think look quite cool and in same spectrum. Wonder what they run...

Klassen is a great wheel (owned by AG) - one thing to note is that pic is a 3 piece wheel with a step up lip. it can be made in all sorts of configs if you order new. Things like, flat lip, 2-piece, 3-piece monobloc, hidden hardware, custom colors, lip color different from the centers, deep, medium or flush concavity spec etc. AG (Klassen), HRE (Ankry), ADV1, Vossen, etc use in house design development and build in house too (for some this is more recent). Outside of these designers things get a little more rigid and dont customize much more than color.

Fun fact, many of these wheel companies (except HRE) were building their wheels at MHT in California. MHT as of 2019 is the largest distributor/builder of aftermarket wheels in the world. They carry about 15,000 designs including large aluminum truck or brands like Niche, Foose, Rotiform, and Fuel. Since the merge of Wheel Pro and MHT back in 2019 I think a lot of the companies using their services took their manufacturing in house (or elsewhere),.

I can get you a set of these for about $2500 depending on wheel diameter. They’re not 13 spoke nor as smooth as the HREs, but they are fully forged.

I like those quite a bit — is there a color somewhere between this gold and the HRE bronze? Any pics of the wheels from an oblique angle? Are the spokes straight or bowed?

A legit forged wheel as opposed to a flow 'forged' for $2,500 bucks is a SMOKIN deal! Are you talking about a monoblock forged wheel that is new for that price?

You can see different wheel angles direct from their website as well as a color palette of options as you scroll down.

EDIT. Forgot to include link.

http://vsforged.com/vs01/

There’s some concavity to the back wheels making the spokes more bowed. The front wheel is pretty flat to clear the large calipers.

I didn’t take a ton of pics, but here are some slightly different angles on my car as well as what they look like in the sun. I sold them to @justinlawrence137 on Instagram if you want to see some better pics of them mounted.

I’m not a dealer, nor would I be making any money from a sale. My buddy is a dealer for VS Forged and only charges a couple hundred total over his cost. He’s a car guy. He’s looking to make a ton of money and doesn’t hold inventory so is basically a middle man to relay info and funds for production and ensure it gets shipped to the right place.

they look great on that Instagram. Are those 20/21? I’ll have to pick between brushed and satin bronze.
