Help Me Decide How To Go

I currently have a 2021 GTC on order, however, I will not be getting this anytime soon. Maybe not even this year the way production is going. So Plan B. Was thinking used GTR, found one on the East coast that caught my eye. Need a PPI completed, decent deal pull trigger. Now I'm Considering McLaren 570s. Never driven one, like the performance, looks etc. Car I'm looking at is local, certified, maintained. Any and All thoughts welcomed.

I also considered a 2-3 yr old 570s and still itch for one. Looks and performance McLaren has in spades. Problem is reliability, workmanship and cost of the extended factory warranty. In Canada the cost is $6k/year for the warranty (you can try and gamble without a warranty but the cost of parts and labor is very high), and that in addition to the depreciation of the car which is likely to follow older mclaren models. In the end it's not worth the headache to pray to the auto gods in the morning hoping the car will start up and nothing is broke. These cars are cheap now for a reason.
I'll be following the new Artura closely and see if the move to extend factory warranty to 5 years helps with depreciation. Also if they have solved the workmanship and reliability issues.

I have decided after I'm done with my GTC, I'd rather save up my nickles and dimes for a bullet proof Huracan or 458/488. The ferrari Roma also looks interesting and quite afforadable (comparatively speaking).

Regarding your situation, I would get a used GTR, have fun with that for a year or two and put in an order for the next gen GT. You will lose less $$$ in depreciation going the used route. Buying a new GTC now seems like burning cash fast given the new model is coming so soon.

How are the roads in San Diego? GTC will ride better than GTR. Might be a better choice if you have no plans on tracking it.

Dont really know what to say about McLaren. 1/2 the owners love them. 1/2 the owners say never ever buy a McLaren.

Stay clear of McLaren unless you have real deep pockets. Just regular maintenance will take the fun out of ownership.never owned one but know a few that have.
I found a 2020 gtr my exact spec 30k off msrp, with 800 miles.5 yr Factory warranty plus additional 1 yr for being a cpo purchase.deals are out there , may just have to look at other close states.

Off the truck..

AMG GT R and GLS 450
I was in the same situation as you - decided between lightly used GT R or 570S last year. I ultimately went for the GT R. Better looking, sounds way better, cheaper to maintain ($2k annual service for 570S), and 570S has very expensive extended warranty (would not own one out of warranty). Cars were close to same price. Found a 2018 GT R with only 900 miles and CPO. No regrets!

.
My friend just had his 600LT catch fire last week for some engine harness issue. Also had the gas cap stuck on his previous 570S along with other issues that I do not remember. I just read about a 675LT also catching fire this week.

I dont think McLaren will ever be on my differential for cars to own, no matter how enticing the price/performance is.

looks are subjective, but I think most people would say the mclaren is the better looking car.

I saw that. I was looking at the 675 because supposedly that's the most reliable and most fun to drive. NOOOOOOOOOOPE

Guys.. Cannot Thank you Enough. It's Really easy to get swayed by curb appeal/performance specs. Going to go drive the 570 tomorrow. We will see. All info is Greatly Appreciated.
