Sport+ selector >> is there a way to make it stay?

Guys - I read somewhere (and now I can't find it) that MY 2018+ was supposed to have the C,S,S+,Race selector 'remember' where it was left off and start out on that same mode once the car is shut off and restarted. Any validity to this?
Cuz my car 'aint doing it.

TIA

I could be misremembering, but I thought that was only the case with the EU cars. I think it was brought up in one of the EVM threads, but no idea which one or where.

To my knowledge you have to reset it at every start. I am not sure but there is a I selection for individual that you may be able to use for customization…like the exhaust staying open after start.

I don't know which MYs it applies to and which specs and whether AMG retroactively disabled it, but at some point the GTs remembered the last mode for 4 hours after the engine was shut off. AMG however had to stop doing that as part of their agreement with the regulators in order to continue to offer less fuel efficient modes. Having to select the desired mode every time is the compromise to still get all those sportier modes. The regulators require that the driver has to deliberately select one of the other modes after starting the engine. In some newer AMGs there's a prompt that can be enabled in MBUX, which asks if you want to restore the last mode and gives you a few seconds to say yes before the prompt disappears. It still requires deliberate action by the driver, so I guess it meets the requirement.

Thats funny as my diesel F250 does the opposite. I run it in economy mode all the time and when I restart the truck, it asks me if I want to return to economy mode. You would think that would be the default...pretty irritating. I sometimes drive 100 miles down the road until I notice its in the standard power setting.

Yeah regulations are rarely full of common sense. The standard mode depends on which mode was used to homologate the vehicle. So unless the F250 was homologated in Eco mode, they are not allowed to start it back up in Eco mode. I've also been wondering if they really think folks who want to drive in S+ won't just immediately activate it. There's actually a far better case to be made about starting in Comfort, and that is you shouldn't really use S+ etc until the engine and transmission are at operating temperature. I personally like that my AMG starts in Comfort, because that's what I use to warm it up and around town for moderate driving anyway. As soon as I hit the highway or an open road it goes in I*, though, which I've essentially setup like S+, but with transmission in M and the suspension in S for a good balance between comfort, agility and control. When in the canyons I put it in Race with transmission in M. Basically unless I'm just doodling around in Comfort mode my transmission is 90+% in M. Overall I like how DYNAMIC SELECT works and thanks to the AMG Drive Unit I can quickly change the mode from the steering wheel. To engage I* I just need to push the drive mode selector regardless of the current mode. So no longer having to cycle through several modes to get back to I* from Race mode for example.
