Hi I just purchased the APR 71" wing for my GTR and was wondering if you could share more details and pics of the "supports" you are referencing.

Please take another look at the wing model. The one in your link—the GTR Pro GTC-500 Carbon Fiber Adjustable Wing (2020), uses a special bracket that fits only the AMG GTR Pro.
The Pro has a different factory wing mounting system than the standard GTR. This wing won’t fit a GTR unless you’ve swapped the GTR base for the GTR Pro base.

The wing shown on the car in the original photo above (OP) has a universal mount and is mounted on the rear hatch, positioned between the standard wing mount and the rear window.
That setup matches the AMG GT GTC500 71" Carbon Fiber Adjustable Wing (2015–2021)., https://shop.aprperformance.com/prod...e-wing-2015-up

I don’t have hands-on experience with this specific wing setup, but it’s worth noting that at an 18° angle of attack it can generate roughly 1,000 lbf of rear downforce.
But as you correctly indicated, I suspect some level of structural support would be necessary.

Thanks for the catch, yes you are correct this is a wing specific for the GTR PRO.

My car is a GTR PRO ( I should have been more specific in my original description) so it should fit the mounting point correctly.

If anyone has experience with mounting point fabrication for a large wing like this that would adequately transmit the downforce from the wing into the structural frame of the vehicle instead of just the deck lid I would greatly appreciate it appreciate specs and or pictures showing the custom mounts.

thanks

Ahh, now it makes more sense. Congrats on the new Pro, it looks incredible in Sunbeam Yellow.

In this case, we can assume APR has solid experience with the OEM mounting points and the structural strength of the Pro-specific wing setup.
Their design also places the wing farther back on the original bracket, which offers much better support than mounting it at the center of the hatch.
I’d reach out to them directly and get their perspective on load handling and reinforcement.

Good luck!
