Never thought of this piece potentially rattling - I would take a piece of masking tape and put a piece under the flap, and then one on top of the flap to hold it in place - then go drive around and see if the rattle it still there. If so, you found the source, if not, then you just peel off the tape.
I’ve done some rattle finding/elimination in my gts, but it never ceases to amaze me how many more strange rattles I hear when the temperatures are different outside. I’m also a bit surprised a $150k car rattles so much!

this surprised me as well! I came from a ‘17 ZL1 which was rock solid, not the faintest rattle (and certainly not for being a less harsh ride!). Never thought I’d see the day a Chevy had less rattles than MB based on American cars 10+ years ago 😂

I have had transient rattles in both my GTs and my etron. It always turns out to be something I imported into the cars. I think we may have more rattles in our cars because the suspensions of German cars are generally tighter than those on American luxobarges.

I definitely agree. I found that child seat hook flap flapping up and down. But the car has another knocking/rattle in the back that I am trying to sort out....
Maybe it's too time consuming and expensive on the assembly line to place felt everywhere critical.

I had a rattle from my 2016 GTS that was coming from the mechanism in the retractable cargo cover. There is no question about the source of the rattle - I had someone ride back there to check, and the dealership confirmed that was the source. The dealership replaced the whole mechanism. The new one has exactly the same rattle :-) .
