Gents - how are you connecting your trickle charger to your 2021 GT Black series?
When I plug it in to the cigarette lighter port in center console, it appears to not be charging the battery (per the indicator light on the charger)

Thanks in advance!

Should be the same as in the other GT models. You have to plug it into the socket in the cargo compartment. The cabin sockets are switched, so they are disconnected when the ignition is off.

I looked in the rear trunk and didn't see a charger port, unless I missed it...

This is from a GT S I think, but should be in the same spot.

Will check in the AM with a flashlight. Thanks. Any Black series owners able to confirm?

Obviously, a manufacturer screw-up, your car is now worthless....Why would you need a flashlight, is your car in the Bat-Cave? Try this climb in the back, close the hatch, wet your finger and stick it in anything with a flip type cover on it. if that doesn't work, turn in your man-card.

Glad you located it.

However, it doesn’t excuse MB from making the information available and easily accessible in the Operators manual.

Clearly you don't have Ol' Fart eyes ... with them it's about impossible to see – especially with "black on black" – without lots o' light!

Really?! Whenever I can't find something I ask my wife to have a look and she normally finds it ... to which I comment "it's a guy thing!" C'mon, am I wrong here (and I won't ask for directions, either!)?

BTW, if you get any type of shock from <15 VDC – especially when you're not grounded – it's from static electricity.

What trickle charger do you recommend? I have a 2021 AMG GTC and concerned about the winter. Thanks

CTEK is the most popular one. The OEM trickle charger is a CTEK with an MB/AMG logo as far as I know. The only thing to watch out for is you need one that supports lithium batteries. A good site for suitable trickle chargers specifically for your model is https://www.juicemyride.com/. They used to just resell CTEK chargers, but now seem to have their own branded ones. The hardware might still be CTEK, though, cause they look similar last time I checked.

Agreed that a CTEK or AMG branded version is the one to get; just plug it into the ‘cigarette lighter socket’ in the trunk area and you’re to go. Make sure you program it correctly for a Li + battery however.

Recommend MB Trickle charger. (C-Tec)

Part number US Version: A 000 982 29 21

about 120 USD by your MB dealer.

Has anyone successfully found Alligator clip adapters for the MB charger so you can connect directly to the battery? Mine didn't come with a set (bought the car used). Thx

Hi,

You can buy it from C-Tek? (e.g. E-Bay ?)

E-Bay search: CTEK Alligator Clamp

See post #20 det0000 is right. The plug doesn't fit. MB chargers use AMP connectors.

Don´t charge directly the battery.

See:

Batterie Issue

Best regards

Thanks. I forgot about the extra negative connection. Good call. I'm actually trying to charge a dead battery in another vehicle right now. Bought a 12v socket to alligator clip adapter.

Just note, the connectors on the MB charger are not interchangeable with the ones on the CTEK branded chargers, even though CTEK makes both. If you want to use the CTEK accessories, you have to buy one of the CTEK branded chargers.
