Selling my Carbon Ceramic brakes.

Thought i’d start in here. 8k easy miles on them by previous owner. look like new. Obviously never tracked.

Weighed and they have 75% life left. Zero chips. Decided to part them out. rears already sold. Still have fronts.

$4500 shipped for front Rotors.

$6500 front rotors , pads and calipers.

I had planned to as soon as I bought the car a couple weeks ago. o have an AP Racing kit installed up front and Girodisc rotors in the back. Will be doing a lot of tracking. Previous owner had health issues and never was able to track it which is why he sold it.

With a good relationship with a performance shop they cost $16-17k installed (as a conversion), so you are a bit on the high side for the set minus rear calipers. But they are rare and you will find one that will give you a good price.

Seems odd to sell the incomplete set. Just curious as to why you're keeping the rear calipers. I'm not an actual buyer so I understand if you think I'm lame

if you didn't re-use the pads on the rear set up, you should include them in the package.

I haven't eyeballed these, but often, the rear calipers placement and size etc is the same iron vs CCB so keeping the calipers could make sense. Pads aren't though - and the CCB pads are pricey!

Yeah i’m using the rear caliper since it’s the same for the iron. $1400 brand new for rear calipers from Mercedes.

Didn't know that about the pads. I have the fronts as pictured. I’ll call about the rears. Another member told me he pays 600 for full set of Pagid pads on his CCB. so maybe 200 for the rears ?

New ? i was seeing them for $20k on multiple sites when i looked. prob more through Mercedes. adding new rear calipers is 1500 from dealer.

Someone offered to buy just the rear rotors. considering it but not sure if that makes it harder to sell just the fronts ?

Yes, new. This is the kind of stuff that people just list but nobody actually buys list price. Apart from the GT Pro/BS, the rotors are the same across the AMG line-up anyway, so buying the brakes from an E-Class, SL, S, etc, will be the same thing (minus some brackets, etc.). Key for a good price isn't the mileage as much as zero chips on the rotors and calipers that aren't beat up from handling.
Splitting up the set is more hassle but could be the same, if not more money. People are more desperate if they need to replace a damaged rotor than an owner contemplating a CCB upgrade.

thanks for the input. 👍. yeah these have ZERO chips. perfect. calipers are like new as well. i could just sell the fronts separate and maybe rotors then calipers. front calipers must be 2500 or so if small rears are 1500.

When you get a chance, and after some more track days, would you mind posting your impressions of the AP Racing calipers, etc?

What Model # of Caliper and Rotors, and what Brake Pads are you using up Front?

Did you re-use the OEM MB Caliper Brackets? If so, do the AP Brackets not work?

Are you also considering the TiKT Brake Ducts? They appear to be very effective in mitigating heat and brake fade, and prolonging life of rotors, pads, and calipers.

Yea i have the front Tikt ducts already. ordering the rears too there is a custom bracket a member in here makes for the AP kit. i believe they sell the whole front kit for $5k. Same Radical kit. accepts 25 mm pads. one inch ! Using Girodisc rotors front and back. rear i’m using factory calipers.

Im using EBC sr11 and sr21 pads. Sintered. just hit market. serious endurance pad. Over double the wear of any other pad you can get too. 126 laps at laguna in my c7z running 1:36-1:37s vs 58 laps with raybestos pads and Cobalts. sr21 last 50% longer than those. they don’t make noise either. lower dust and they are easier on rotors. game changer in track pad industry IMO. been testing them since last Nov.

Sorry for jumping in, but since I've already got CCB's, I'm curious on the life/weight of them. Reportedly they last "the life of the car" if not tracked/abused, but if yours are at 75% after 8k, that seems like a relatively aggressive loss. I've got a 2016 with ~16k miles and put maybe 2-3k/year on the car, so it's not a real concern, but I'm still curious.

I read that too but with 8k normal driving the CCB’s will be well above 90%.
There have been several threads getting into the measurement tools/processes. May want to do a quick search but most owners will have never swapped them CCB rotors due to use unless tracked or some other rare reason (debris, accident, delamination, or worn pads, chipped by careless mechanics)

Never tracked with the CCB. maybe more than 75%. no chips or anything.
