Aston Martin Vantage owner checking in...
Recently purchased a 22 Aston Martin Vantage 007 edition. Car is fantastic and I knew I would enjoy it considering it has lots of AMG stuff on it. The Aston Martin forum is pretty quiet and I was hoping to get help from this forum if possible. As many of you know the AM Vantage has the motor, trans and ecu from the AMG GT cars. The interior shares a good amount as well (center console, menu options etc). That being said I did have a few questions...
1. What coding software do you guys use for the newer AMG GT cars (reset service light, turn off autostart/stop feature etc). I have used bimmercode for my previous m850 I had and it was fantastic.
2. Why is the AM Vantage slower than the AMG GT cars...i know my trans is tuned differently than the AMG GT cars but the AM Vantage is also a good amount lighter...just curious if anyone knows the answer to that.

Welcome! Please post a photo of the AM.
And a video of my car at the dealer with James Bond music...lolololol.

If memory serves, the car has a ZF 8 speed slush box, not a DCT.
The engine was detuned but you already took care of that with a tune.
The ZF is fantastic but read that AM didn’t do the best job on the software matching, something that BMW nailed.

Hi ArabianOak,
Beautiful car! Great pics!
A couple of things on your Qs:
Regarding the service reset, this is accomplished through a series of steering wheel button sequences. There are two different processes, one for the original AMG GT platform up until the "digital" version change, then a different sequence for that. I'm sure if the program is the same, then your car would use either the exact or some variation of the newer sequence. If you can post a complete pic of your steering wheel I might be able to suggest a button sequence for you to try, although I can't imagine you're needing a service if this is a pretty new car. Past the button sequence, the service reset can also be accomplished via a deep scan tool with MB programming (only a guess if AM used this SW system exactly the same as MB).
Regarding the auto stop/start - this is something I can tell you with certainty, on the MB version (and if yours is the same) you don't want to try to bypass this. Just get in the habit of starting the car, then pushing the green button. MB made this system integral in the battery management module. The closest some got was to completely disengage the BMM, then numerous U-codes get set.
On the question about performance, your platform almost uses the complete drivetrain from the AMG GT, but not the trans. As far as I know, your car has the ZF 8HP75 (updated version) and does not use the 7DCL750 DCT. The DCT is likely to be the reason you're not neck to neck with an AMG GTS. Past that, essentially your motor is the same output as the 503hp version of the AMG GTS.
Hope some of this helps you.
Best,
Acta

The steering is a completely different layout than the digital AMG version. It's more like the original steering layout, but with buttons on the opposite sides. I saw this video and thought it might be worth a try for you. It's pretty easy to follow the steps in it and the buttons seem to match yours.
First, a couple of simple reminders that impact the reset on the AMG and just might be the same. Before you begin the sequence in the video:
1. Make sure all doors, hood, hatch are closed as you are sitting in the driver's seat.
2. When you're following these sequences, you are pushing the start button WITHOUT depressing the brake as you just want to put the car in accessory mode and not start the engine
3. He says it in the video, but one of the first steps is that you must be on the mileage screen before you start the sequence.
Good luck with it, let us know how you did. If it works, maybe you can take it over to the AM site for help there. BTW, depending on which AM site you are on, I visit one of them occasionally.
Good luck,
Acta

Nice AM! Welcome to the club!
